    Worst Hat Bashes

Which is the whole point of the ad. That Knapp felt could do things we can't do today... and couldn't even be done with most hats then. Sigh. Anyone have one in 7 1/2 LO?

    Panama Hat Thread

That hat looks good on you and will serve you well this summer. Don't get it wet. I don't think anyone mentioned yet that shantung is paper. As for the design, if you were to, as your hat seller suggested, look at any picture from the 1930s (or two decades before and one after) most...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

You're joking? The case is worth a lot more than that. I look forward to pictures of the interior.

    Protecting Knox Vagabond...

Remember that the plastic will make your hat a bit hotter. I might try ironing (through a wet towel) to see if that works first. My personal feeling is that adding the plastic looks worse than losing a bit of the logo. But I really like liner-less hats.

If your head doesn't rub against it, which it probably doesn't, should be fine as-is.

    Cloak

I have always wanted the Spanish equivalent. Visited Capas Seseña a while back, but failed to pull the $500 trigger. More information here. If anyone knows more, or about other sources, do post.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Bigger clue = the address is listed. I doubt he'd put his address on his hat. I doubt he lived in Milan's famous Galleria shopping mall. It's the store from which it came. I guess more than one person in Milan had that family name. I don't think we have any guide to "Super", "Extra"...

    Crofut & Knapp mischief

Relatively late and not terribly classic examples. But I'm sure anyone hoping to bid low and late is cursing you now!

Anyone else with a retro workspace?

How does one manage to get struck by lightning multiple times? That image makes me think of the tesla coil-based quack devices of the period. I'd LOVE to find a higher resolution scan of the picture. Love the retro workspace. I'm working on mine and will post photos.

    Vintage Black Fedoras

That was my first thought, too. The drop handle bars seem particularly anachronistic. But who knows. hatted, please do not post "live" auctions.

    The Double Teardrop

Heh. So now I owe JtL something like a dozen Mai Tais and an ice cream cone for Lefty. Probably a cigar for IndyCop and certainly some photos for Brad Bower. I'm not sure I can afford to continue to post here.

    The Double Teardrop

Sorry JtL, just callin' it as I see it. No offense intended. HPG, er, the latter. I tried to find the, er, most polite rendition I could come across.

    The Double Teardrop

I've been trying to resist sayin' this... But there's just one thing this shape reminds me of... Really, I'm just being honest. The hat looks good, but inevitably, that's what I think. Too busy and, well... There's a sort of zen to an understated, casual pinched hat. That's what I...

Disney Hats Spread | Gentry Magazine Fall 1953

What a great find. This is more than just an article about Disney hats. It's a window into a particular period of Golden Era hat use. Thanks!

    Vintage Black Fedoras

Featherweight Borsalino, 1955: Looks like Lefty deleted his pictures of the black Chamois. I guess it's not technically a fedora anyway. I also have a Mallory, probably 1930s, wide brim fedora in black. I'll post pix some day... I have a black French 50s (back bow)...

The Definitive Cavanagh Edge Primer *

Gladiator helmet with Cavanagh Edge Brad, looks like Cavanagh was just stealin' from ancient Pompei. This helmet is in the exhibit currently at LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art): Worn though it is, I couldn't see any stitch lines.
