Our leathers are chrome tanned in New York. The hides originate from the dairy and beef industry, and meat-goats. I think mostly from the mid-west region of The States.

I am pretty sure Langlitz said New York for their regular brown and black. Chrome tanned for sure. And the colored leather was definitely from California.
And that's 3.75 approx. in describing my medium weight cowhide from Langlitz not the horse. I am with most on the issue- up charge not worth it. As I learned from Aero- I like steer better in many respects. Break in and wear look to be spectacular with Aero thick steer.
Also forgot to mention. If you go with the extra foam for the padding it will make bending arms very challenging at first. I was tempted to forego the extra padding at the elbows for the second but more supple dark brown cowhide but decided to man up again- LOL The regular medium cowhide cxl...

I ordered a cossack collar sidewinder in medium black cow- fit perfect.
Now I am waiting (due late this month) for a dark brown side winder with dress collar and mutton collar- these guys get the fit down perfectly.
The leather is awesome.
