Experience of service in the Armed Forces

My experiences are unimportant in comparison with yours as I am talking only about membership of the Corps at my boarding school. However, I did learn some important outdoor and survival skills which have stood me in good stead, as well as forging strong friendships and enjoying a great deal of...

Experience of service in the Armed Forces

In another recent thread about missed opportunities, I expressed regret about not joining the Army or Navy for a few years when I had the chance to do so, as I was in the cadet corps at school. How many of you have had experience of serving the Armed Forces, and how much did you benefit (or...

    Ĉu vi parolas Esperanton?

I have a friend in Yorkshire who is an Esperantist and goes to international conferences, etc. It seems to have a large following in Brazil for some reason, and also the Baltic States and Eastern Europe. To me it does look as if it has a strong 'western' bias although I understand that there...

What missed opportunities do you regret?

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

A couple of WP photographs taken this morning, as it's been cool and rainy again. This is the Peat Brown colour. I have included the turn-back cuff, which is a rightly popular feature.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

There was a move towards fleece and other synthetic fibres here in both military and civilian life although in the latter category fleeces have been (to some extent still are) more a women's than a men's fashion. However the shortcomings of fleece and similar material especially lack of...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Richard, My black WP is made in the UK by Outdoor Knitwear and is the same quality as all my other military sweaters. Over here the black WP (as mentioned earlier in this thread I think) is associated mainly with the Royal Tank Regiment. I understand that some US Special Forces wear it?

One more for luck: one of the features of this type of sweater that I really like is the turn-back cuffs.

As mentioned on another thread, it has been unseasonably cold today in London and so I have been able to don a black army commando sweater (Woolly Pully) with shoulder straps and pen pocket.
