That looks really, good!
I really like the colour, and i think the shorter length works really well.
I really hope you keep that one long enough for the leather to evolve into glory.
If you don't i will be taking part in the fight for it that will happen in the classifieds, may the quickest man win.
They're not that slim fitting, both my bootleggers have STF sleeves and i just find them "normal":
In my case i think the rest of the pattern is "regular" bootlegger.
My order forms just have "use STF sleeves" on them.
I was in no way trying to disparage @Jin431 's jacket, i just thought the leather was "weird" and tried to understand what i was seeing.
I really think it's a good looking jacket and great value for money, i just like knowing what is what, that's it.
Sorry but i really don't have a way to measure accurately.
BUT, looking at them, it looks to me like the angle is 90degrees + 45 degrees, so it should be 135 degrees more or less a couple degrees.
Does that sound possible? What are you comparing them to?
I would think so.
I don't know how Aero finishes their sheepskin, but if it is painted with acrylic like Eastman's (as it should) it is useless to apply anything on it, now or in 20 years, as whatever you apply to it will never actually make it to the hide.
Navetsea is right though, you can't...
Wait did you buyt this one from @think_zot ?
Can't believe i missed that one... I need to convince my girlfriend to sleep in shifts so that one of us can always be up checking the classifieds...
I don't think so, i think they are synonyms, plating is a form of embossing.
I think the plate is like what you would find on a printing press, a metal plate with a pattern etched into it.
They press it into the leather to emboss grain into it.
You don't enhance grain by pressing it with a blank...
That's definitely been shortened, there should be a lot more overhang below the end of the zipper (red in the pic), the corners are wrong and the bottom hem is wrong too.
And from another website:
Plating: Plated LeatherPressing leather with a heated metal plate under high pressure. Most furniture leather is usually sanded, pigmented and plated to cover imperfections.
Milling: A process that produces suppleness in hides.
Printed Leather :Leather, bearing a...
Actually, i found a definition:
"PLATING/ PLATED LEATHER –
The process of using a hot metal plate to press leather under high pressure, this is another way imperfections can be covered"
So this leather is definitely printed/corrected.
Also:
"Milled Leather
Milled Leather is the Surface...
Yes, but the uniformity of the 5 star "deer" is weird to me.
Take a look at these pics i just took, the back left panel is similar to what you see on the 5 star, but even within that panel there is variation.
The pic you posted above shows variation too, all the "pebbles" are not the same size...
I saw a couple jacket made from it at the store last year.
IMO the nicest leather they offer.
Very light beige skin colour beneathe the black top coat, nice sheen, great grain, nothing to dislike.
If it had a Shinki stamp people would be going crazy about it and not think a second thought about...
I'm sorry to see that, that really sucks.
Was that a buyee purchase?
It's weird, the leather itself really makes me think of LW leather.
It has a similar looking top coat and grain...
That looks great!
I always thought the LW grizzly looked a bit shapeless on the website pictures, but worn it really looks good.
Really nice.
edit: dibs if you ever sell it!
