    Type A-1 Trousers...Yep, Trousers...from 1931

From that comparison with the original (and allowing for 80 years of ageing of course), even one of the best of the repros (BR) hasn't really cracked the mellow brown tones.

    Identify this A-2

Around 12-15 months at the moment. John does have a sale page on his site for test jackets (exclusively in a vintage 46, fitting roughly modern 44), but you have to check regularly and act quickly as they are popular. My current GW A-1 came through a similar route. E-mail is best for John...

    Lost Worlds ANJ-4

This one is in tip top condition (no issues other than a missing label), sized 40 based on dimensions. Not mine, but I've advertised it on VLJF on behalf of a friend.

New A-1 jacket from Original Flightjackets, horsehide, crafted in Germany, PICS

    Yes, in the land of the rising sun, I keep reading Real McCoy 37J1B 36 o 38 o 40 o 42 x 44 x (where the x = out of stock, maddening for my 44 or perhaps 42 search...)

    A-2 seam question

The inset/rotated sleeve does make the A-2 more comfortable to wear - the attachment to the sleeve is not quite so crude. The Doniger example is a good one as the commercial arm of the company, McGregor, was selling widely and so the wartime jackets were made using high end manufacturing...

    A-2 seam question

2Jakes, I've posted on VLJF. The choice configuration is a practical one - the inset/rotated seam (used by Doniger, amongst others) gives a more natural arms sleeve shape (slightly more curved) and more 'reach' in use. When you raise your arms ahead of you the jacket rides up less. However, it...

Do A-2s make good summer jackets?

Notwithstanding the previous posts, and I'm in SE England, I've found that horsehide tends to be too heavy as the temperature rises; goatskin extends the range a little, but I reach for my capeskin A-1 when I want a summer leather jacket. Having said that, I'm more likely to reach for a cotton...

    Vintage Eyeglasses

Fellow Loungers I am planning to sell these gold rimmed spectacles with their case, but this area is not my field. There are two figures impressed on the underside of the bridge, but I'll have to locate a lens to identify them. I'd be grateful for advice about age/value please.

    Admiral's A-1 Jacket

Slow indeed ;-) Nice work though Fletch. I'll see if anybody on VLJF can lay hands on the relevant page in Full Gear. Unfortunately, this manufacturer is not mentioned in th Eastman book (although Gary's emphasis is clearly on the A-2 of course).

FS: Named Vintage Morning Coat and Waistcoat (1916) - owned by Otto Kahn
