It's the same expression in English. :) I think Denny was just joking with his response.
My point was just that PK was pretty well known as a producer for leather goods already, going back to the 1940s original American jackets which used goat skins from British India.
I'll check these out. I've always wanted button boots (since I was 15 at least) but as far as I knew my only option was John Lobb bespoke in St. James (or some of the bespoke makers in Hungary).
I went to watch Fire Walk With Me at the cinema last week (with Sheryl Lee in attendance no less; she complimented my tweed! Instead of something British, I went for a sack jacket because the Americana seemed to suit Lynch) and it was a great way to see the details of the jackets.
Bobby's Bates...
Whether or not Monarch made it, what didn't they make? The range is incredible. I've learned a lot even from seeing Dave Sheeley's analyses of their machinery.
How do you mean exactly? It's always (going back to ancient times) been an area for leather work and fabric weaving.
Even as outsourcing goes it's been a common place for things made of either. Even in WWII, the US got its goat hides for jackets from British India.
Incidentally, speaking of PK...
There's a company called Five Star Leather in Pakistan. They're quite a good leather factory, but quite bad at patterning/design, so most orders through them are a big bet.
However @abbaralph here just sent them a real U-Boat jacket to reproduce exactly. I don't know if he's received it yet...
No we went over this about a year ago. I think now they might align more but especially when Greg was still doing custom orders, they didn’t quite align.
Both should be comparable for durability for plain wear so it’s down to what you like better.
The one you need to break in is shiny. The one that’s already soft is matte.
That's why none of us are making recommendations based on technical terms, haha.
Soft from the get-go or stiff that needs to break in soft is the question.
Tbh with Lewis it's probably overdue given the dramatic drop in the GBP's value, but it's just very drastic. It would have bothered me less I think if we were getting a bump every year.
I remember Schott told me the price of leather (and both companies are largely sourcing from the Italian...
The 654 only comes in alpha sizing and you’d be between sizes on it.
Glossy vs matte isn’t a quality indicator. The 641 has a stiff leather with shiny top coat whereas the 141 is a soft matte leather.
The fleece liner is removable.
