Ok sorry to wear out the subject of sweatbands, but I've got a couple of vintage hats with a sort of green "goo" on the rear behind the stitching. Can someone please enlighten me as to what has occurred? I've attached a photo of an example. Thanks in advance!
Ok thanks guys! It is supple on the back and looks great at first blush, but even carefully lifting it up to look at size labels under the sweatband cause little "tearing" sounds and small cracks on the smooth outside portion of the sweatband.
I recently acquired a hat that is in almost mint shape but for one issue I discovered. The leather on the sweatband is beginning to turn brittle. It must have been stored away in a hot area. Anyway, besides Pecard's or Obenauf's, is there any other way to prevent the issue from getting worse...
Best $35 I've spent in a while. I was surprised it turned out to be such a nice hat, as the seller photos were not very flattering. This has become one of my favorite hats!
