I don't know about 'real' WW2 contract A2s as mine -see thread, is a more generic Aero A2 but cloudylemonade commented in this thread that Aero didn't have rust knits before 1987. No mention of why they changed either...
Hi the generic style is 'cafe racer' but manufacturers may call it something else eg Alexander Leathers call theirs the 'dirt rider'
Aero Leathers sell this style as do Vanson and Schott and others. It is made in a variety of leathers and the quality and styles fit and zips etc. will vary...
Very similar in style to a 1950/1960's Lesco Leathers cafe racer - they were based in NYC and produced this jacket and a few others some similar to those produced by Schott. Similar quality to Schott. See this link for one that just Sold on eBay...
I always have a look at Dinerman's excellent guide to zips when trying to date a jacket you'll find it here

A search for Alexander Leather brings up even more spurious items than a search for Aero Leather? It's about time eBay tightened up trade mark contraventions
Signed 'Ann Oyed' of Sheffield UK

I like it, it looks good on you and with wear it's going to get even better as it conforms and breaks in. My missus likes it too and believe me she is the 'style police'.
Well there is a seller called drifterproductions on eBay... based in the USA - it looks like the same seller so why not talk to him there assuming it is the same person.
I find these on eBay occasionally and am intrigued by the similarity in style to a Schott 'multipanel motorcycle jacket' which I believe was also a 50's 60's jacket. Does anyone know who Lesco were and what happened to them and why this and other styles were similar to those of Schott...
No - I've just got the one Aero motorcycle jacket (Tussauds Brando etc. style), from my May Vintage Finds post, which brings my Aero jacket tally to five. They are as follows, 80's A2, 80's CHP type, ANJ4, Dustbowl in Kudu and the FQHH Motorcycle. I've posted pics of all but the ANJ4 and the M/C...
