No sweat, Aero. Good luck with your Unbranded jeans. They are a good call. Fold them if you put them in the freezer trash bag, of course. My wife still laughs when I do it, but she doesn't mind. You just make sure to seal the bag tight. :)
Just FYI on washing, I found that when they are ready...
I like the Unbranded 21 oz. jeans for motorcycle riding and just kicking around in. I also own a few pair of Unbranded 14 oz, but the 21s seem to be cut more to my liking, and they also seem to fade in better. The 21s also seem to breathe better than the 14s in warm weather, to my surprise. I...
Took a mixture of warm water, clear soap, and a dab of rubbing alcohol to my Red Wing 2268 (Role Clubs) and then buffed out with a horsehair brush. Let them dry in the sun.
Previous owner, or owners, must have allowed polish build up over the years, because the difference is pretty noticeable...
I prefer just clean, functional lines on a leather bike jacket - with honest wear from the ride.
But I can dig some personalization if that's your thing. It's not like the old timers didn't adorn their jackets with various goodies.
Bottom line is life would be pretty damned boring if we all...
I generally found the Chip sizes to be a bit smaller than the RW. So if you wear a 11 in RW engineers, you may want to try 11.5 in Chips. That was my experience anyway.
Will you be able to try them on in person? If not, I'd order 11 and 11.5 in Chips and return the one that doesn't fit right.
I tried the Original Chip 1901m48 at home and the RW 2990s in the store. The RW 2990s seemed a thicker leather to me.
The Chippewa 27899 I also tried at home. They were thicker leather than the Chip 1901m48 as well.
The Chip 1901m48 leather is very nice though. It's a glossier Horween. It's...
I've tried RW and Chip engineers a lot over the last several months.
The new Red Wings are a good, low heeled, engineer without a steel toe. However, they have a smooth sole that makes them a no go on a motorcycle for me. I think a good used pair of 2268s off Ebay would serve you a lot better...
Thanks for the compliments!
My Comet has inside pockets in the chest as well. Those are the more useful ones.
The outer pockets, I sometimes put a small garage door opener in one that I can easily press as I pull into the garage. But I personally don't use those pockets much, or really need...
I believe those are Chip service boots. I have a pair.
They are nice, but I do think my Red Wing Iron Rangers and Blacksmiths are better.
The Chips are made a bit too narrow for my foot. Not terrible, but noticeable. But beyond that, they don't seem to have the same stitch, hardware and...
Hmm. If it's a custom request, shouldn't that be all the more reason for Wesco to get it right?
Just playing Devil's Advocate. That stitch is pretty bad and there's really not much excuse for it, IMHO.
Though if the owner digs the boots, that's all that matters.
Thanks Mendel.
I've been wearing them a ton since I got them back from Brian. They are very comfortable on and off the Harley. Might just be the only riding boots I'll need.
My Red Wing 2268s re-worked by Role Club. Brian replaced steel toe with celastic, woodsman heel a hair shorter than normal, relasted, resoled, new footbed, and brass roller buckles. They fit great and I think look pretty snappy for old dogs. :)
