Thanks guys. Sad I have to sell it. But she just got a little too snug.
The main thing was I got a bit too broad to wear it comfortably with armor. And I like riding with armor these days.

I would just wear 'em and let the natural patina take over and not worry about any conditioning until next summer. Yup, a whole year.

Yup. Wear them around the house a few hours, or for very short walks.
Gradually work up to longer walks.
Before you know it they will be fine.
Don't put any insoles in them for the break in period either, of course.
I wear 10.5 in Converse Chuck Taylors, and Nike running shoes.
I go a full size down in Chips to 9.5.
