^ I had one of those Schott nylon CWU jackets but got rid of it quickly since it was too short in the torso, barely covered my belly button! I found the cloth frays easily too on the Schott jackets. But Schott construction quality is there. Other nylon CWU jackets have been available over the...
Schott never made nomex military jackets, so their knits will be heavier because they can make them from wool or polyester. The knots on nomex military jackets are nomex hence they are limited by what you can do with nomex thread.
Big J is right, nomex jackets wash up nicely. I got a dirty one...
I've always had a soft spot for this overcoat which Slick Willie wore while in the WH. I like the high button stance and proportions and length but it could only look okay on a tall man.
Short overcoats are everywhere these days it seems. Several weeks back my main client (which I shall soon be firing) saw my long coat and lamented that he couldn't find a long one to buy these days. As you say, there may be regional quirks, but the original poster should go to a large shopping...
With respect to everyone, the USN pea coat, although superficially similar, is a much different animal: it's longer, has more buttons, has a different pocket config, different collar and revers shapes, and has no half-belt. But fwiw I agree it's a good alternative and SpeedRacr's is a...
I looked at her site today and I didn't see anything about that. I think the double-breasted version which she sells, though it might be screen innaccurate (the costume coat was single-breasted with a large overlap), is actually more usable and practical for 'civilian' use and I think she's...
Here's an article about Richard Grant... apparently he still has the coat!

I'll repeat my question, Ray: you've got a size Medium Wested, so what size are you personally? 40R? 42R? your height? I realize that Wested has a measurement chart but I'm trying to gauge how these fit and I've found that I sometimes need a "tall" but sometimes I'm okay with a "regular"
Looks like a really great jacket, Doc Strange. I think I posted already that I remember reading a memoir (online blog, actually) from a retired CPD constable who said in the 1970s(?) his sergeant called him up and told him to get on duty asap, and bring your leather jacket. The constable said...
Spy photos of testing model:

Even though they cover these test models up with stuff to conceal the final body shape, the overall proportions are still obvious and it looks...
That's not CPD style, or at least I've never seen photos (old or new) of that style being worn on CPD officers. Those pockets and the yoke resemble civilian/airline pilot's jackets. Whatever it is, it looks like an amazing coat!
^ Burberry used to put that on its vintage coats (sometimes) and has partially revived it in recent years. There is a corresponding strap on the inside of the left skirt of the coat (circled in photo below) which in conjunction with the button is used to close the coat's skirts. It's called a...
Are Carhartt jackets a lot better than other brands? 'Cause to me they look just any number of similar jackets from other brands which are pretty common around my parts.
