Okay, I do have two exact identical ones. They are late-50s, square-bottomed with sewn-in colored feathers. I won't post a photo, though. You know I do a lot of Photoshop work, so you might just think the photo was fake...
Well, at the moment it's probably at the 1000-1100 mark (and growing still), but over the past few years I've probably sold off roughly that same amount to a local vintage clothing store. I just kept the cream of the crop. I'd say it's half 1940s/one-quarter 50s/one-quarter 60s. I'm sure there's...
If I had one of EVERY type I'd have about 40,000 of them. This pheasant one is actually only the 3rd or 4th one I've seen my entire time on the Forum that I've had a duplicate of.
I found this 1940s reverse-paint frame who knows how long ago. It's in pretty bad shape and measures only 2 3/4 x 3 1/2. Don't know who young Romeo is...;)

Oh well, you're the expert. Flickr is jpeg. I didn't bother with the tiff viewer on the LOC website. Flickr is just easier and LOC gives me notice when they post anything new (it's not just all Gottlieb).
The LOC has posted another great new batch of photos from the 1940s New York City jazz scene. Incredible! :eusa_clap

What a conversation piece that must have been back then (and now). My first thought was that it's 1940s because of its shape and just because sports were a popular theme.
I'd say it actually mid-1950s judging by the width (less than the wide-40s and more than the thinner late-50s) and a simpler design (I've seen many designs from that era featuring 'mirrored' shapes on them). The fabric is that period, but I don't know what it is. I think Widebrim would know it...
Has anyone heard of 'Petty' brand? I'm actually sort of mystified on the age of this silk one. Width say mid-50s, but it paper-thin construction says 1930s...

Just over the years I've found them at the usual places: thrift stores and yard sales. In my twenty-plus years of collecting I've only purchased one tie off of ebay. That was early when they were actually cheap.
