What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I love modernist architecture and design. I'll definitely check this out soon.

What do you use to shave?

That's interesting @rocketeer . From what I understand, in the US, straight razor shaving was basically a dead art for some decades, especially as the "barbershop culture" was not what it used to be. Straight razor revivalists kind of had to reconstruct the skills from old books and such, as...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

North by Northwest is breathtaking on blu-ray.

    Tie clip / tie bar

All my tie bars are from the 50s/60s, and require a narrow tie.

What do you use to shave?

That's unfortunate about the oil. What kind did you use? To me, pre-shave oil from Art of Shaving is too thick. I use the stuff from Pacific Shaving Company.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I'm watching the Italian sword-and-sandal flick "Hercules in the Center of the Earth" (1961) with Reg Park and Christopher Lee. I love these B-movies from that time period. The dubbing is a little odd in the English-audio version, especially when English-speaking actors are dubbed over with...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I've been getting into cult B-films of the 1950s, i.e. Roger Corman. Interesting stuff.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Terror of the Tongs (1961) by Hammer Film Productions. I love classic cult cinema.

    That's unfortunate.

    Non-ugly running shoes?

I like "heritage" brands for everything I do in life. I wear Chuck Taylors or PF Flyers for just about all physical/athletic activities. I think casual shoes have become over-specialized (and uglier) in recent decades, but those two still have the classic look and classic functionality. If I...

    1920s suits

I like the SJC spectator shoes. I also like the idea of a brand that appeals to a whole lifestyle. To me, retro/vintage is not just about clothes, but everything in life. To satisfy this insatiable urge, I have to go seeking out all different sources for different aspects of life; apparel...

    Bay Rum?

I was going to recommend Royall Bay Rhum, but recent reviews seem to indicate that the quality has gone downhill.

I'm located in your area. Are you planning on opening up a retail storefront somewhere, or distributing your product to any local stores?

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Though the melodrama is a bit much for me (kind of laughable), I love the visual style of this movie.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

It's interesting that in those days, for certain ethnic roles in movies, actual ethnic minority actors were used for background characters, but white actors in makeup were used for the roles that were more prominent. You see this a lot in westerns with Native Americans, for example.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I am also going to look for a copy of the book. Along with various films noir, I see this as a kind of thematic precursor to that show that some of us love, Mad Men. It's easy to look at the past through rose-colored glasses and assume that everything was hunky-dory and everybody was nice. But...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I just finished watching It, and I'm still "digesting" everything. Wow, it's pretty intense. Hunsecker is one nasty fellow. He definitely deserves it when his sister leaves. I'll post more thoughts later. I love seeing the dark side of the old days.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

I have the Criterion blu-ray of "Sweet Smell of Success." Now I'm going to have to rewatch it soon.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Nah, they're just not my priority. I can go on for weeks only watching older TV shows and movies, especially after I've binge-watched something new and there's no other contemporary stuff that interests me at the moment.

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

That's too bad. I've been kind of curious about this movie for a while. Now I'll avoid it!
