:-) I have a snap-brim Panama that I'm afraid to wear unless I know for sure it won't rain, and the Balmoral is very similar to it. I almost ordered a Balmoral a couple of weeks ago, in fact, but I was concerned I could't reshape it to a snap-brim.

The Akubra should be easy to shape and re-shape. I've re-shaped the brim on my Snowy River several times, as well as the dents—Snowy River is the imperial felt, I believe stiffer than a Fed IV.

My grandad died before I was born, but I got to wear one of his old hats in a school play (no idea on make or model). Gray felt with a slightly darker band and a satin lining with a plastic lining protector. Your picture reminds me a lot of it. Looks good on you.
