Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

You'd think, but I've never seeing one! I really like the Meteor Niagara: Kind of a cross between the Ford and Mercury.

Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

Yowza! Or what it should have been! I wasn't trying to put down the Kaiser. I like every one of the cars on that chart. Those are all my serious candidates.

Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

I like the Kaiser, but I think my taste runs more toward the Buick or Pontiac - in that order. The Stude would be cool only because my dad always wanted one (albeit a hardtop or coupe). You’ve got that right. Although these days you’re more likely to encounter that smile in the mouth of a...

Driving golden era cars in the modern era

How's the mass-transit infrastructure in Spain? That seems a more GE method of travel anyway.

The Best Looking 1950s Field Cap

It would be nice to see a return to the peaked service cap with the dressier uniforms.

The Best Looking 1950s Field Cap

The M1951. I wore an olive drab BDU cap as my everyday cap back in high school and early college. Very comfortable, functional item, and classic looking as well. It's a shame the modern army has gone away from it in favor of those hideous, un-American berets.

Vintage Car Thread - Discussion and Parts Requests

Challenge! Here is a little graphic I created to poll my friends as to what kind of car they see me in. I deliberately omitted information as to make and model. All are from 1954, however, as that’s the most typical of the kind of car I’m next buying. As I finished it up, I realized it would...

You Sears Catalog hoarders, got one from 1920-1935?

Thanks to Atterbury Dodd, I know own the Sears, Roebuck and Co., Philadelphia, Fall and Winter 1924-1925 catalog! We’re moving once again, this time into the city where I work. The goal is to purchase a condominium in an 1886 commercial building. Before the move, we’re liquidating a lot of...

What ever happened to station wagons?

I looked at one last year about this time that fit that description to a "T", except I think it was an '87. It was rough, though, and after they wouldn't deal on the '89 Caprice wagon I test drove on the same visit, I didn't even bother. It doesn't help my wife hates faux woodgrain. :(

    Harbor Freight Stretcher!!

Went looking for one this weekend at the store where I'd purchased previously and couldn't find one. I asked a clerk and she sent me to automotive floor jacks. I also don't find them on the website. I guess they're discontinued? Anyone have another bargain spot to pick one up? Henry the...

    1950s British suits

The blue. I'll try to get some pictures posted, but I think a trip to the tailor is in order first. I hate asking people to take my picture, though.

Well, it's my suit now. First time I've purchased a suit off eBay. Wish me luck!

    Rock a black blazer casually

Dirty bucks, khakis (I like cuffs and pleats, but YMMV), button-down white or blue oxford, and a panama works for me. If I'm getting any more casual (say, into denim territory) I'm typically not wearing a jacket anyway. I would never mix a polo shirt and a jacket, personally. It looks like...

Do you have a favorite vintage movie car?

I've always liked Paul Biegler's '50 Pontiac Deluxe 8 Chieftain from Anatomy of a Murder:

    Nutria supply!

Every time I hear what a nuisance nutria are in the South, I wish someone would start trapping them on a commercial scale for felt. Seems like a better option than rabbit all around.

Did I violate some kind of unwritten rule by not posting "message sent"? Or was I just the second message?
