old terms or expressions that are still among us

Here's an interesting site which links old archery terms to modern English expressions. I'm not sure I believe all of them but most I'm sure are true https://jordansequillion.wordpress.com/2011/12/15/archery-and-the-english-language/

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Vintage Aero HG5 - sort of a hybrid A2 Highwayman a collaboration between Aero and a business manager who gave them away to his employees as incentive bonuses - I believe. I found this one in a retro clothing store a few years ago in mint condition with a Julie L's white tab in the pocket.

The durability of NOS Crown zip

As I always say - my advice - take it or leave it - no problem either way. If it's a vintage military jacket then you should use the specified zipper for that model but if you're having a jacket made then choose a quality brass zipper - chromed brass or brass as a brass zip is more flexible and...

You are quite right Van I looked up other threads using hippie jacket and opinion seemed to be divided on its design merits when it was first discontinued. Rob

    Leather Soles on Ice.

Yaktrax - great product but just remember to wash and dry them before storing or the elastic a will perish. Ps take them off before walking on hard floors such as supermarket floors - feels just like leather soles in ice.

    Replacing knits on flight jackets...

Yep that eBay seller is a good source of quality knits - he supplied correct types for my G1 and I had them fitted by Byson Leather in the UK who did a great job - they also supplied and fitted a nos Conmar zipper.

Canvas or leather for new messenger bag?

Leather every time - as thick as you're comfortable with - have a search for USPS mail bag and check out that vintage design - worth copying if you've got a good leather worker on hand. Lots of firms do copies with zipped pockets but they usually miss out the seam piping and use thin leather. A...
