Halfbreed Hats: half straw, half felt

    That I will keep in mind . . .

Halfbreed Hats: half straw, half felt

Hmmm, that half-breed is the right idea but the wrong shape and brim size. I'd have to talk to them but the price is currently beyond me. Darn! Oh well, something else for my wish list . . .

Halfbreed Hats: half straw, half felt

Well if you find someone who can, post it here. That way we can all be doomed together.

    I second that!

Halfbreed Hats: half straw, half felt

When I first opened this thread and saw those hats I though they were just a delightful eccentricity. However, upon further consideration I'm getting the feeling that they actually make a great deal of sense. The straw top gives ventilation superior even to the Tilley's with the mesh side and...

And a striped double breasted suit!

    Show us your Guns!

It made sense for the Walker to be heavy. Though it was the most powerful BP revolver ever made, it wasn't designed as what we today would consider a sidearm. It was a dragoon weapon and normally carried in a pair on each side of the pommel. A pair of those in that caliber with that much...

The Powell from Matt Deckard Apparel

Man, that would go so well with a railroad striped suit, especially one in dark brown!

Hunting with truly vintage Griffin & Howe rifle

Shoot. More. Hog. And do use that fine, fine rifle to do it. They should appreciate the compliment.

    Australian Vintage Suits

Benny, I read a long time ago that there was a time in Australia when businessmen switched over to suits with shorts in the summer time. I have never seen a photo of any such and can't find any on the web. Was this true or some kind of bizarre antipodean myth?

    Recommendation for Outdoors Hat

Hmmm, could you use a little saddle soap on a leather sweat band that's starting to shed bits and pieces? That would save my trying to find someone closer than Burbank who could replace it and it would cost a whole lot less!

Hunting with truly vintage Griffin & Howe rifle

Sure is. And it's obviously German settled. Every little town has a place selling wurst and beer. What's really obvious is seeing hochsitzen one after another from the freeway as you drive through. Explains a lot about shooting deer in Kimble County.

BOTH SIDES OF THE TWEED! - Show us your tweed suits, sport coats and pants

Well, for a full tweed suit, Bookster seems to be highly recommended. Horwood and Shaw show some good looking suits as well.

As fine a ground squirrel rifle as ever I saw. Well done, sir.

    Show us your Guns!

Yeah, with a retired Marine general in charge these days, Colt can't seem to get beyond it's rifles and the 1911 variants. Except for the SAA, their revolvers are nothing but a whisper of history. No wonder S&W outsells them by an order of magnitude. If it weren't for government contracts...

    I Think I'm Starting a Trend

I dunno, guys. I needed to run over to Nordstrom's today (only place close by where a man can buy a decent dress shirt and tie) and walked by a shop called "Lids". Normally the place is wall-to-wall ball caps but today, wonder of wonders, a quarter of the store was stingy brim hats. Now...

Coming up tonight, broasted game hen, pasta al pesto alla milanese, green salad all washed down with a '08 old vine Zinfandel. But since it ain't cooked, I don't have any pictures. :p
