It made sense for the Walker to be heavy. Though it was the most powerful BP revolver ever made, it wasn't designed as what we today would consider a sidearm. It was a dragoon weapon and normally carried in a pair on each side of the pommel. A pair of those in that caliber with that much...- Oldsarge

Australian Vintage Suits
Benny, I read a long time ago that there was a time in Australia when businessmen switched over to suits with shorts in the summer time. I have never seen a photo of any such and can't find any on the web. Was this true or some kind of bizarre antipodean myth? -

Hmmm, could you use a little saddle soap on a leather sweat band that's starting to shed bits and pieces? That would save my trying to find someone closer than Burbank who could replace it and it would cost a whole lot less! -

Sure is. And it's obviously German settled. Every little town has a place selling wurst and beer. What's really obvious is seeing hochsitzen one after another from the freeway as you drive through. Explains a lot about shooting deer in Kimble County.- Oldsarge

Yeah, with a retired Marine general in charge these days, Colt can't seem to get beyond it's rifles and the 1911 variants. Except for the SAA, their revolvers are nothing but a whisper of history. No wonder S&W outsells them by an order of magnitude. If it weren't for government contracts...- Oldsarge
