My budget has just moved into 'longing' mode . . .

    grey lid with black band

I'd wear it with anything blue, grey or black and I would do the same with cordovan or burgundy shoes. So to my mind, restricting it to black shoes is overly conservative. After all, one only wears black shoes before six for the most solemn occasions . . . or unless one's only pair of dress...

    garment bag question

So you go to the store (provided that you are not of the socio-economic class that orders MTM or bespoke) and you buy a suit or a jacket. The tailor makes the adjustments needed and you return and pick it up. You try it on, nod approvingly (whether you know what you're looking at or not) get...

    Show us your Guns!

Wow, a picture right out of Outdoor Life from when I was a kid and Jack O'Connnor was thundering from his pulpit. Ah, nostalgia . . .

Jeez, another top notch hatter to bookmark. Guys, this could get . . . expensive!

What do our hats really say about us, and more importantly, are they right?

I got my first fedora because it reminded me of the classic style of the outdoors from Field and Stream of the 40's and 50's. Then, somewhere along the line, my hair thinned to the point that a day in the SoCal sun gave me a sunburn on the top of my head. Ever had that happen? You don't want...

"Holy Grail" Suit I Wouldn't Have Expected

IMO, it's a regional thing. Trad simply doesn't work on the Left Coast. I don't know about the country east of the Rockies but from Denver west you're going to get really odd looks. However, around Bah-ston I'm sure it's quite the bees' knees.

    A Resurgence of Hats

I wouldn't call that being offended, just self-centered, something that one should find offensive. But we don't, we just get a good dose of Shaudenfreude when said iPadded moron runs into a pole and breaks his nose. You're not going to get that from wearing a hat indoors.

Especially if you buy it in case lots . . . and you can shoot game for a couple of years with a case. The only people who absolutely have to reload shotshells are clayburners.

In the Ivy League, apparently. :p

    A Resurgence of Hats

Thanx, Marc. Perhaps Little Dom's would make a good Event site come spring time. We could take and post a picture of the restaurant with most (or all!) of the hat hooks filled.

"Holy Grail" Suit I Wouldn't Have Expected

Fortunately, being a born-and-raised Left Coaster, Trad-lieness has passed me by without so much as a wave. Better a Hawaiian shirt and a panama!

    A Resurgence of Hats

Man, where is Little Dom's? Up near USC? Near Miracle Mile? I rarely get to that side of The Basin but I'd make the trip just to eat there. I want to be seen in there with my Fed IV (when I get it) hanging on a hook!

Ah, the S&W K frames. Along with pre-1960 Colt Pythons, they are my favorite of all favorite hand guns. Some day I'll manage to come up with my own Fedora Gun but until then I can only admire others'. Your collection may be small, but it's prime.

    I love the Fed IV!!

Outstanding, sir! That is a first rate look and since your face is a younger edition of mine (with added chin cleft) I will bookmark this page come the day my finances are all straightened out and I can order my own grey Fed IV. Well done, that man, verra well done, 'ndeed.

Extra long T-shirts - recommendations needed

ButteMT61, Duluth Trading Company is not the same company as Duluth Packs. DTC makes clothing and useful items for the building trades and I agree that their quality is first rate. Likewise their customer responsiveness. If you ask for it (albeit several times, perhaps) they will make it...

Who needs four-wheel drive? Offroading in the Golden Era.

I'm surprised no one has come up with this pioneer before. It's the g'granddaddy of the unmatched Dodge Carryall, 4x4 of 4x4's.

    Today's silly fantasy

Right click on them and 'open in a new window'. They show the Federation IV and the Federation Deluxe IV. And those are great looking hats. What I especially like about the Fed IV is that it comes in slate grey with a black 2" band. Ooooo-ga!
