A trip to a well stocked bar is a fine way to sniff around. I've found Speyburn to be reasonably priced and well made. Good body and just a bit of smoke.

From my experience the first time you put a 2 inch brim on your noodle it will look to you much like a beach umbrella......but only the first time.

My above observation held true to me every time I increased the width of the brim until I starting wearing a 3 1/2 inch western doing yard...
I say we all get our wagons in a big circle, put on big ol Stetsons with a 5 1/2 inch brim a 7 1/2 inch crown with a Gus crease and really show those haters what hat geeks can look like!!!! That'll teach them or we can just drop it.

Is that any reason to buy a hat or any reason to but a hat? If you're looking for an excuse to tell yourself you don't need one. If you're looking for a reason from one of us well I guess "I don't own it" is as good as any. ANY reason to buy a hat is sure good enough for me.
