blk for dress, blk for showing horses, blk for rodeo competing(runs smaller, stays on but isn't comfortable for long wear), blk for rodeo (fits correctly and is older and you don't mind all the dust and dirt and stuff getting on it), blk for ranch use ( hasbeen sweated in a lot and it shows)...
a dozen are out on hat racks of various types, the rest are boxed two deep on closet shelves. Multiple closets.
I was looking at the sweatband of the hat I am wearing today ( 200x Stetson silver belly more or less cattleman creased) and the grain is so fine on it. I have never seen a kangaroo...
I own 4 doz + hats, 80% western felts, but I have never been able to determine the types of leather used in the sweatbands of most.
I have seen the sweatband described as "roan leather" and "rabbit leather" but most are tanned or finished with a dark gray-black color and the texture doesn't...
The hat is safe in its present style at least for a few weeks. I broke my arm Sunday and blocking a hat just isn't going to be in the cards any time soon.
the unusual label states the rayon lining is made of rayon yarn from Celanese. I was unsure of when that came out.
I would love to flatten the btrim and remove the curl while keeping edge binding. Any suggestions or opinions as to whether that might be successful?
I'm thinking of making my dress routine go a bit faster in the mornings.
Hat selection is what usually takes longer than all the other parts of getting dressed each day.
I believe I will make a spinner thingamajig, sort of like wheel of fortune, and label the hats on it. Spin it, see what...
I think you need to have a little conference with the Mrs.
It seems completely rational and logical to have 31 hats so that you can rotate and not allow any one hat to get too much wear. One hat per day.
But then you made new a few spares as it might rain and the hat that gets wet gets removed...
Totally agree with the state of silver belly color today. On older hats it was a grey tint color but today it is rendered very close to a tan hue.
I have some premium older westerns of the old silvery color and they look a measure or two richer than the tannish color of today.
Are the...
If any of you ever pass through Dallas, the Resistol/Hatco factory outlet store has hatboxes for sale at a reasonable price. I think it is $4 but it has been probably 3 years since I last purchased one.
If you care to go there you can mapquest or googlemaps 1 resistol drive, garland texas and...
Where a hat is worn on one's head relative the ears is a personal matter. Some face shapes seem to wear a hat higher and others lower. And then there is the whole issue of ears not being uniformly positioned on human heads.
Your (orig poster) face and head shape looks great with the hat worn...
I see hats on an unnammed auction site and also occasionally on a popular free classifieds. My question is what constitutes a Homburg?
I always thought a Homburg had a crown with a center crease and had a rolled bound edge. I see hats listed for sale that appear to me to be what I always had...
The hats looks nice on you as is in my opinion. Before you get too worried, wear it a while. If a fedora is new to you then it will look and feel odd for a time until you become accustomed to wearing it.
I think you would look outstanding in that hat with a nice suit.
Enjoy!
