Thanks to the enablers here, I got me a Panama Bob hat, a Diamante, and have had nothing but compliments. I thought I would not like the bigger brim, as compared to a fedora I bought, but actually, it works and I guess gives me more shading. I can see that I sweat a bit in it, but I know my...
Well, seeing if anyone has a tawny fawn or heritage fawn Akubra hat in 7 1/8, more of a fedora than a western hat. Prefer the wider ribbon but the ribbon on the Campdraft is okay.
Sam: Love the hat in your avatar.
I kinda agree with that last post. I dont like the brim down in the back as much as I like it snapped up and on one side, like my Stetson Saxon. Is that what is meant by a snap brim?
I have no idea if the Saxon is lightweight or not. One guy did a comparison of various Akburas and the BP was the lightest of the six he had if I recall correctly
When wearing your felts, do you go with season or temp or what the heck?
Well, I am so anxious to start wearing my felt hat it is buggin me!!! Memphis has some hot weather into October. So when should I start feeling good about breaking out the felt fedora?
Also, I have seen some threads...
Well, I had the high bid on an almost new Banjo Patterson in Heritage Fawn and it did not meet its reserve. However, I did ask the guy what he would take if it did not sell and viola, we struck a deal. One guy here has been a sounding board and so with maybe a little prodding, I went for it...
Forgot to ask.
7) Finished brim edge or unfinished? I like the look of the finished brim edge on hats I have seen, but I think my Stetson Saxon, from memory now guys, is unfinished, and finished seems to be more apt to dressier.

I bid on a Banjo Patterson on ebay and it did not meet its reserve. I would probably try to find someone to swap out the thin band for a wider one and maybe reshape it a bit. I am finding that I like more of the fedora style than a western style and thinking a taupe fedora on me would be...
I wear suits mostly, since, being a lawyer, you are expected to look a certain way. Now, I might wear a sportscoat in the summer, especially if I am just entering an order, or appearing quickly, but for real hearings, a suit. So, I grab suits for church. Our church is starting a later, more...
I was reading around some threads and had some random thoughts that I would ask about, rather than polling.
1) Wide ribbon vs. thin ribbon. Are you one or the other, or lean heavily to one or the other? Me, I have two hats with wide ribbons and THINK I prefer that to thin, but not having...
Ill go check my pms. Anyway, I am thinking the BP is not me, as the ribbon is too thin. I think the prices on the Akubras, at $90 or so, are great compared to $140 for the Stetson I paid. I am thinking taupe or brown for my second hat, but since it will be banged up some and in rain (Ill baby...
Im kinda in the same range, wanting an Akubra. I have a Stetson saxon in Caribou for suits and dress stuff, but want something for Khakis, weekends, jaunts to the grocery store, but yet, versatile to wear with a sportscoat.
edited, sorry
all this Akubra talk has me wanting one. I have a Stetson Saxon fedora in Caribou, medium grey color, so I am thinking maybe a brown would work as my second? Is this one you have to bash yourself?
