    French Hats and makers.

Definitely one way to float your boater. Actually, the crown is assembled from four pieces (I think) with a top piece and brim as separate pieces. I think you can see from the photos that the brim appears to be a lamination of two thinner sheets. Thanks Steve... as so often the case, I wish it...

I decide to leave that one on the table - thanks for using. ;^) I was also thinking to call it a "floater"...

    Stetson 5X Clear Beaver, 1942

Fantastic addition - thank you. LotXXXX numbers with dating provenance are so rare and valuable. I have been of the mind that the Stetson XXXXX imprint seen in your hat was a style that originated in the 1940s and continued into the post-war era. Great to have evidence that it dates back at...

    Boater faction!

I have very little information on this cork boater other than the reference (and patent notation) to this enterprise in Toulon. I have never seen another like it. The only markings behind the sweatband are "55" which I assume is a size in cm. It is very small.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Hi Max... I posted a comparison some years back featuring two longhair early 20th century hats - a Stetson clear nutria and a Bancroft beaver fur. Perhaps you've seen it before: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/side-by-side-hat-comparisons.65983/page-26#post-2012620 I have more photos...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

1950-ish Cavanagh oddity - a woman's model with the bow on the man's side? Not a hat that I've found occasion to wear, though it is light and soft in decidedly un-Cavanagh style. Presented here for your enjoyment...

    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Regardless of whether the dates are definitive on the older styles, this is a wonderful summary and one that I will copy and share in other places. I have no dates to insert in the sideways section, but suspect the separate size label and colored ink might serve to help to break down that period...

    Turquoise/Native American jewelry

Thanks... I have not seen a Guild piece quite like it before. Elegant design and beautifully executed as well. I felt lucky to catch it.

Very nice Perry... the softness of a big bold Borsalino is well captured in your photo. Thanks, as always, for sharing.

Machine woven hat of unknown fiber origin... perhaps casein? Not a milk dud, though - the form is quite beautiful.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

June is bustin' out all over... so I busted out the Buffalonian. Purchased about 100 years ago from our venerable Kleinhans store. (Not by me.)
