Let's See Your Watches! The Vintage Watch Thread.

Very nice Matt! I actually don't mind winding a mechanical watch everyday. There is something nostalgic about it, and I get used to hearing the ticking on my wrist throughout the day.

All You Need to Know About Hat Etiquette

I agree with this wholeheartedly. My hats have become a part of who I am, and people have begun seeing me as "the fedora guy" or "the flat cap/newsboy guy". I have even begun using a fedora in the logo of my business, further solidifying my identity.

    Examples of Casual Fedoras

I definitely think the Akubra Stylemaster can be a good casual hat too. I've worn mine with anything from dress slacks to jeans and a sweater.

All You Need to Know About Hat Etiquette

I wear my hat indoors in public spaces. like bumfrey hogart said, carrying it around with you when you're using your hands would be strange. There are some instances in today's society where removing it would be considered more rude or bizarre than keeping it on.

Multiple things I would like to say

Welcome to the Lounge Matt! I agree with the others on their advice of searching antique and thrift stores. In regards to being afraid a hat won't fit that you find on Ebay, just remember that if the hat is very close in size but just a tiny bit big, you can stuff tissue or sweatband strips...

    The Cap Faction

Very nice Hanna cap, DAJE! I have a grey tweed cap from them that is one of my favorites.

    Thanks to the Fedora Lounge!

I enjoy posting here as well. I don't belong to any other forums that have nearly as many active members who actively discuss such a variety of things. I also like how this place stays civil (at least most of the time) instead of succumbing to the arguments and childish put-downs that so many...

That's an amazing transformation! Well done! :eusa_clap

    The Cap Faction

Here's my new black wool newsboy from The Hat People. This is probably my last hat acquisition of the year, and should keep me satisfied through the winter season.

    Self-Conscious?

I'm really beginning to think this way too. After getting my first suit, and seeing how well it goes with my Adam Executive, I can't imagine wearing one without the other.

    Applying for a job...

That's my thought as well. As others have said, I doubt the competition for hat shop employees is that intense. In a perfect world, true interest in a career field, and a willingness to learn, should be enough to get someone started in a job.

What sparked your fascination with the "Golden Era"?

I think my interest was just sparked by my interest in Film Noir detectives. I'd seen quite a few movies like The Maltese Falcon and Murder My Sweet by the time I started high school, and about that time acquired an interest in owning my first fedora. I've had a strange fascination for...

Which Bogart film is this from?

That's what I'm thinking. I'm not sure though.
