Very nice Matt! I actually don't mind winding a mechanical watch everyday. There is something nostalgic about it, and I get used to hearing the ticking on my wrist throughout the day.
I agree with this wholeheartedly. My hats have become a part of who I am, and people have begun seeing me as "the fedora guy" or "the flat cap/newsboy guy". I have even begun using a fedora in the logo of my business, further solidifying my identity.
I wear my hat indoors in public spaces. like bumfrey hogart said, carrying it around with you when you're using your hands would be strange. There are some instances in today's society where removing it would be considered more rude or bizarre than keeping it on.
Welcome to the Lounge Matt! I agree with the others on their advice of searching antique and thrift stores. In regards to being afraid a hat won't fit that you find on Ebay, just remember that if the hat is very close in size but just a tiny bit big, you can stuff tissue or sweatband strips...

Here's my new black wool newsboy from The Hat People. This is probably my last hat acquisition of the year, and should keep me satisfied through the winter season.
I'm really beginning to think this way too. After getting my first suit, and seeing how well it goes with my Adam Executive, I can't imagine wearing one without the other.
That's my thought as well. As others have said, I doubt the competition for hat shop employees is that intense. In a perfect world, true interest in a career field, and a willingness to learn, should be enough to get someone started in a job.
