Best Golden Era Movie to watch for my Psychology report?

I did a report on Vivian Revere (Ann Dvorak) in Three On A Match (1932)!! How she has it all, isn't satisfied, and turns to a life of crime and drugs.

    T-Shirts on Women?

T-shirt type shirts for women (as we know them today!) begin to appear in Sears catalogs during WW2. This is from 1945:

    *Obnoxious* Vintage Fashions you LOVE

From 1916: lol LOVE the one with reeds growing out of it (upper left) and the "Venus Fly Trap" under it. And who can resist the "Cactus" number at bottom? I wouldn't wear them, but I am in awe of their obnoxious beauty.

    The Golden Era's *ugliest* clothes

Oh, look. I have a pattern of the (f)ugly blouse: I am going to make it out of scraps. lol Just so everyone on my FB can see how terrible it is on me.

    Victorian Revival in 40s

Here's some more Victorian-influenced dresses I found from 48-49... Especially the dress on the left with the bustle-style back! Especially the red checked one at top.

    The Golden Era's *ugliest* clothes

The left. Reminds me of Star Trek or something.

    The Golden Era's *ugliest* clothes

Sorry gals, but..... I think these post-war "blousettes" are the ugliest things ever created. I know rationing was still an issue and I'm sure the design had something to do with that, but I just see a pillowcase with holes cut out for the head and the arms and then belted at the waist...

    Imitation: Flattering or Litigious?

I read somewhere that they have the proper liscensing so they should be ok.

    The Golden Era's *ugliest* clothes

Is there a "Most beautiful" clothes from the golden era thread? Because I have a bunch of those, too. Hehe!! :)

    The Golden Era's *ugliest* clothes

The dress in the middle. It's so ugly, but.....I LOVE IT! It's "just ugly enough" to be cute!! There's a fine line there, ya know. lol

    The most frightening motion pictures?

I agree with this. I saw clips of it when it first came out (I was a kid) and it scared the daylights out of me! In 1991 we watched it in school and it wasn't so scary. I'd like to see it now, though....

    Imitation: Flattering or Litigious?

Stupid lawsuit. Next, we'll all be sued for mentioning Bette Davis' name on this forum. And then we'll be sued for telling a friend about a good Bette Davis film we saw on TCM, thus giving her publicity and promotion that was not authorized! I know, I'm on the slipperly slope fallacy here...

    Victorian Revival in 40s

Even though I also posted this in *another* (cough) thread, I would say some of these 1948 dresses have a Victorian influence... Also, Victorian revival in 1935: lol I have a feeling her mom made her wear this dress because she was getting her yearbook picture taken that day!

    The Golden Era's *ugliest* clothes

YOU MADE HER CUTE!! :) Now, I like the dress. lol

    The Golden Era's *ugliest* clothes

lol I'll admit, I'm not too sure about any dress on this page (from 1948). The best one is the navy blue one. The pink stripey one would be alright if the sleeves and neckline/neck ruffle weren't so hideous.

    The Golden Era's *ugliest* clothes

I almost posted a similar thing a few days ago when the "I must have bad taste, then!" comments were directed at what *I* thought was ugly. As you said -- just a fun thread and I can totally see why some things here would be "ugly" to someone!! Too bad some felt the need to take it personal...

    The Golden Era's *ugliest* clothes

Shoes are so timeless. I've been looking at women's shoes as far back as 1901 and some of them look like what's in the stores today! :D
