So how are those dress boots holding up? My Daltons lasted a year.
Have a look:

Well I figured AE uses quality calf, but I might have been wrong. I short year later (I'm a couple
of months late in posting) these shoes are dead. I thought they were very nice looking shoes, if not
the most comfortable dress boots I have (that honor probably goes to my Whites or, on the...
"Pretty bog-standard mall quality jacket. And when I say mall quality, I'm comparing it to the higher quality that was around in the early 1980's, not today's plastic stuff."
Hm, I'd say a good bit better than that, at least the leather and manufacture of this one.
But yeah, I put on one of...
Interesting. It's not precisely that, either, since it had a zip-in lining at one time.
When I said the lining was gone, that wasn't quite right- there is a black satin lining
still intact.
Anyway, thanks for all the responses. It's a durable jacket I'll keep around as an
indestructible...
Huh. Seems to me more like heavy steer. I'm not disagreeing with the consensus but the leather is SO heavy and the knits are SO heavy. As I noted definitely heavier than my aero fqhh. I thought those avirex jackets were lower quality? And why isn't it branded all over? Thanks all for the...
Hi All,
Found a vintage leather jacket in a store in
Hudson, NY the other day.
It's some of the heaviest leather I have ever had-
heavier than my FQHH Aero for sure. There are no
maker's marks except on the back of the snaps, where
it carries the impression of "Durable - DOT - RG"...
Nice find... and it might even fit me... Sell it on eBay with really good photos and you
hopefully you'll end up with enough cash for a jacket that fits you. A jacket that size
might get you a decent return.
My Johnson Leathers D-pocket jackets, made from Horween horsehide,
were both under $500 and off the shelf (including adjustment to the
sleeve length). Not sure how much less expensive you have in mind.
No question. The ends of my sleeves, too.
I have had Johnson Leathers replace both on my old jacket.
They did a lovely job of matching leather, almost 20 years later.
Nice briefcase and luggage! I recently picked up a vintage English attache case,
which you can see here:

I've been happily using it to lug around my 15" Macbook Pro.
My GW A-1 simply soaks up rain. Probably depends on how it is tanned.
I have seen a Lost Worlds deerskin long coat that was impressive.
Personally, I find my supposedly FQHH Aero Hercules to be if anything too soft.
Limp dishcloth soft in some places. I wish I had the troubles the original...
