Got my Stetson Imperial today - what a lid! The softest, nicest felt hat that I own. I don't know what the percentages of different furs are that make up the felt but Stetson hit it out of the park with this one.

Lefty,
No problem - I didn't take it that way. Interesting observation about the "Excellent Quality" hats - the designations that were used really don't make much sense to me.

Lefty - is does and since we can't list current ebay auctions I can't tell the group which one. I had just never seen it on the leather band before.

Rolex Oyster Precision - worn for 30 years by a mechanic and it shows it -
Longines my uncle wore -
Talbot - good to know about the "tank" designation.
Warbaby - I appreciate the kind words.

I have a thing for Dunhill shells and buy them from estate sales or ebay. The following is a photo of 3 Dunhills shells and a Parker (on top) - supposedly a Dunhill second made in 1933 but I can't find anything wrong with this pipe - a beautiful blast. The bottom is a Prince ca. 1919-1921 and...
Dunhill Prince with a military mount - dates to 1919-1921 - I wish I had better photos but you can see the grain of the shell. An absolutely incredible smoke!

TonyB,
Just an outstanding look for a hat! My problem with it is the same as me wearing white or lighter color shirts - I'm too much of a slob - it would get dirty and that would be a travesty.

All other things being equal is there a difference in the overall quality of the felt used to make hats in each of these decades? For example, is a Stetson Royal made in the 1940s a better quality than one made in the 50s? Thank you for your time.
