Okay, thanks. Yeah now I see the armband!
I really, really like the N3A parkas best of all. I like how the windflap comes all the way down to the bottom, how the zipper is really long, how the waist cords are accessible on the outside, and how the cuff knits are exposed. The N3B changes all...
I have a copy of this film and Stewart is the only one in an N3A, the rest all wear N2A's. I remember because when I watched it I noticed and thought "hmm" I guess Stewart was more comfy in the parka or something. Who knows? Anyways, if you like blue nylon it's a great film. They even wear L2A's...
I doubt the military ever cleans them, actually. I've had a bunch of nomex flight jackets go through my hands and none had ever shown signs of being cleaned. And N3B parkas are for super-cold weather only and most are going to be "loaners" (handed out temporarily as needed), and never worn next...
Sorry, good point. The man in the burgundy leather jacket is George Lazenby, while the man in the sweat pants, sneakers, nylon jacket, with ball cap pulled down over his eyes is Daniel Craig. Both played James Bond: Lazenby in the 1960s, and Craig in the past decade.
Oh yeah, exactly, Breezer is right. The fit is great, esp for one of these semi-custom jackets which often don't quite work out, at least from what I've seen in photos. The original poster did well with this jacket.
The 30 minutes of the Irishman I saw didn't impress me, which I posted before. It's made me think back on other Scorcese films I've seen. I thought Goodfellas is good but not great. I thought Wolf Of Wall Street was lame and unimaginative, and had done much much better by others. I thought The...
Last night I started watching Barry Lyndon for the second time and I was struck by how good it looks. On the other hand, reading your post it occurs to me how bad it would look if it had been filmed in HD or whatever and watched on blu-ray.
I thought killing Solo was unnecessary for the story and was just plain mean. He could have got into a ship with Chewie and took off to parts unknown, to keep hustling. In other words, killing him was a typical Joss Whedon self-hating middle-finger-to-the-fans stunt.
You're not the only one. Last night I had dinner with one of my oldest friends, someone who's a movie hound (not vintage movies, though), and was critical of that Irishman thing. He said it was 3 hours of nothing.
Given that no one is every satisfied around here (roll eyes), I've more or less arrived at the point where I think the best advice is "go buy a good quality civilian parka". In most cases, it'll be far better than anything military, new or old.
The english text version of that site says the VF59 is "slim fit".
The EU sites gets a much wider range of colours than in the US (the dark green looks especially nice with the orange lining).
