Come to think of it, we don't even have a B3 / US shearling thread. But forums are difficult to manage: if you're a moderator/owner you either ruthlessly combine threads into single topic threads, or you let people post multiple threads on the same topic. The first has the benefit of keeping all...
"US Navy Skyraider pilot of the early 60s". Don't know the name, just a photo I saw on the interweb. He's not famous but we don't have a thread for "regular joes in flight jackets" so I posted it here. And amazingly, we don't have single big A2 or G1 threads like we do for RAF/Irvin sheepskin...
For those who intend to get one of the modern day N3B parkas, don't forget to get a pair of F1B trousers, which are the insulated pants the N3B is supposed to be worn over (although I've yet to find a photo). Here's info from the 1979 spec for the F1B pants.

I think the HPA guy Charles made the point that the blue N3A parkas were "longer" than the other versions, and it sounds like your experience is similar. Must have been something peculiar to that period. My non-scientific sense is that the later N2B and N3B versions were shortened up.
I agree...
