I've been watching several threads about the price of this that or the other hat from various outlets and so forth lately, and it dawned on me that although I've been wearing fedoras for the best part of 30 years, and have at least 2 dozen quality lids, I've NEVER bought one from a Hatter...long...
best I can find
Since it covers the whole war and mostly in b/w, this is about the pick of them in the appropriate area:
navy fliers. pacific
this one speaks for itself
german bomber crew
german fighter crew
specs
Any particular theatre/forces? There's a nice shot of Patton, and some British artillery in Italy, a bit of aircraft etc etc, not a huge array but a couple of good quality ones apart from the usual grainy german stuff from the Eastern Front. This interests me because I belive the...
booked out
It's one of those WW2 coffee table pictorials, 1991 edition nothin special, but it's got a few good colour plates in there amidst the usual b/w stuff, so I hope some military buff will pick it up off my stall.
foyled again
I though Honeysuckle looked a but weatherbeaten in the last series as did Foyle himself, unkempt would be the word, his hair was like a bird's nest, why did they make them up that way?
Came across this in my travels, Open Road Stetson size 60, the inside is not as bad as the flash makes it look, a wash and a rebash would sort it out, it still has the wind trolley, but too big for me, any keen swappers out there?
and hey, that's honest dirt under my nail there, just finished...
touch and go
The wife doesn't like it, but with a 50's suit I might get a 'jazz' look happening, I have to play a big dance club next month, I might try it out then
craven fop
I just got this for $20, I don't think many Aussies know the brand, and from what I can gather, CRAVENETTE is a waterproofing process rather than a style, it's a touch on the stingy side for me, but with a Cavanaugh edge, it's pretty cute....and it's 7-1/8!
Nasty one
Apparently the weather was pretty vicious as well as the Japanese being particularly fanatical...I think there was some bad 'friendly fire' stuff as well, with US units attacking each other by mistake in the endless fog and sleet etc
and the problem is????
As someone who sweated through high school in the sub-tropics wearing woollen uniform trousers, there seems nothing basically wrong with the idea of that look at all, apart from the socks and the jackets! In Brisbane where I grew up, it was perfectly acceptable to wear...
LETTERMAN?
I picked up a leather jacket recently in the letterman style, but without the woollen body...all leather, sounds similar, it was made in Canada, not my style though, I bought it for my market stall...
the NEK
The movie is really about the Battle of THE NEK as a metaphor for the whole campaign, and that was one of the most tragic/heroic incidents in any war anywhere, a shocking tale in fact. That's what was both moving and depressing about it.
