I used silicone adhesive to repair the sweatband on my new, vintage (?), Resistol Dalworth. The band had torn almost half way around the hat on one side at the perforations from the stitching. The band is folded about a half inch at the seam so I just used a Q tip to put a thin bead of glue in...
I know I'm late with this but...
Sky blue= Infantry, red= Field Artillery, yellow= Cavalry (Air Cav or Armor in the modern Army), orange= Signal Corps, green= Military Police. Colors have changed over the years but the basics, Infantry blue, Cavalry Yellow("She wore a Yellow Ribbon") and...
That's what I was thinking feltfan; 60s or 70s based on the price tag of $20. I'm wearing it today. It's great. Light weight and very comfortable. I'll probably wear it all summer and send it off for repair in the fall when I switch to my wool fedora for the wet, cold weather.
Good Manners...
...and civil behavior are in short supply these days, I find. I do my bit though. Always tip my hat to the ladies, remove it when indoors (Unless under arms of course) etc.
Arrived yesterday at noon. I haven't taken any photos yet but it is exactly as shown on ebay. The hat looks beautiful, like it has never been worn! there are no stains or moth bites or any other blemishes at all. I snapped the brim and wore it all after noon strolling around Friday Harbor...

Randy, I think you got the link for the Open Road wrong. I've been looking for an OR in 7 too so if Sean doesn't want it I might be interested... if the price is right ;)

Although military headgear often looks cool when worn as part of a uniform, I have never been able to bring myself to wear one as part of my civilian attire. It may be due to my fifteen years in the US Army (I joined up just as the stiff "Castro cap" was being phased out in favor of the ugly...
I've been wanting an Open Road or Stratoliner for some time now and have been watching ebay and even bid on some. I have owned various hats, including one Stetson 4X beaver Cattleman in size 7, from size 6 7/8 to 7 1/8. I currently have a cheap wool felt fedora (Pendleton) in size M. I have...
Practicality
I got used to having my head covered when out of doors during my fifteen year stint in the Army but dropped the habit for a few years after I got out. My Dad was bald at thirty and I figured I would soon lose my hair and decided to start wearing hats again just so it wouldn't look...
