Hats Only 12, wow. You developed an eye for style at an early age. Have you taken a proper head measurement? Like someone else mentioned, you really can't strech a boater that much. Get the hat man.... 50 bucks is a decent price. If the hat fits you and is in very good + condition, I think it is worth the 50 bucks.
