Stitched liner
The liner was stitched; I replaced it in the same fashion, stitched and got pretty close to all the same origonal needle holes.
It was my second stitch job; it turned out great.
A serious Naptha bath & liner cleaning
The other night I posted a Stetson Soveregin; it looked great but; the hat had a bad odor to it; and the liner looked less than favorable; serious sweat stains. Honestly looked like someone took a leak in the hat; it looked that bad.
The Naptha bath...
drying
I would flip the brim up while its drying. Although I don't know if it really matters. I'd set that hat on a white towel, never know if any print from the papertowel design will leach into the hat.
In fact I soaked a hat tonight in this rain; that is where it sits now, on a white...
The Goiter
Yeah I pop up my centers back closer to the rear of the crown to keep the liner off my head. Does look goiterish:eusa_clap
Maybe I'll adjust and lower it some. It's something I've been doing with my teardrop creases.
Mallory
Yes, the body color in the picture is pretty close to the hat itself. It is a lite Kakki color with cream undertone. The ribbon is slightly darker chocolate than it appears.
Stetson Sovereign 7-5/8 LO
I got this hat the other day, it was an e-Bay score. The mailman delivered this and the Mallory the other day, just got a chance to work on it tonight; why isn't there an icon with a smiley face and a bullet hole between the eyes...I could sure use one here now....As...
Go e-Bay....
You can find a very nice vintage hat on e-Bay. Depeding on your size there just may be many to choose from. There are always lots of Vintage Fedoras in the smaller sizes especially and the prices are very decent. Just be certain of your size. And like Rick said, new stuff too.
Mallory
Tell you what Cookie, that just may be the case.:D There is no sign of wear inside on the hat at all, right down to the white bow at the back of the sweat; it is perfect, not a speck of soiling. I'm thrilled. The OPS tag has a price of $22.50, I need to look through some Mallory ads...
Mallory
Mario,
Yeah, late 50's is correct....
The price tag inside the hat, is that the OPS tag?? Anyway this hat new was priced at $22.50.
Do you have any sales ads from back then; I'd like to see more about this era hat; like if had a name to it...
Thanks Mario !:cheers1:
