Just wonder if anyone here has heard of this company? They actually custom fabricate leather jackets (and other items).
I have been emailing them with questions, and they are responsive. But, it would appear that a classic A-2 or G-1 is not something they do on a daily basis. But tell them what...
Thanks! That is the info I was looking for. The order will be placed Monday. Do the sizes run small? I wear a 10D in all shoes, so should I order a size 10?
Good to hear your opinion of Thursday. I am waiting to hear from them, but maybe you could answer the question...can the tongue be opened up all the way to allow your foot to slide in, or is it stitched way up near the top of the boot?
I have emailed a couple boot companies, inquiring about the instep, and tongue stitching. Thursday Boot offers free shipping, and free returns. Waiting to hear back from them.
My friend, Mustang Pilot G. Kent Holiday, wears nomex racing shoes.
I'm looking for a pair of good boots that would work for flight use. The plan is to wear these with my nomex flight suit while flying the Mustang.
My issue is that my instep is high. Several pairs of boots from various manufacturers have been tried, but I could not get my foot into any of them...
Having this jacket for a number of days now, I like it more each time I put it on. No, it is not perfect, but real close. The shoulder could be an inch narrower. Other than that, it is what was hoped for.
The leather has an aroma, but unlike the Cockpit USA leather aroma. Not bad, just a bit...
As this is a form follows function design, I guess most will be happy with the modern fit of A-2's. Seeing as how few (if any) of us will find the need to extricate ourselves from flaming wreckage headed downhill like a runaway freight train.
Excelled G-1's and A-2's now on sale for an extra 30% off their already low prices. That means you can get a quality jacket, made in the USA, for close to $200, plus free shipping.

Who was the pilot of the -17 when you went for a flight? Kent Holiday, by chance? He is a good friend of mine. I also grew up watching the great TV series 12 O'Clock High. Robert Lansing was awesome in the leading role as Gen. Frank Savage. While I like Paul Burke, he was never quite up to the...
I'm as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
edit: I just did a search on shoulder alterations. It is very common, not that big of a deal. But the tailor has to be good, and know what he is doing. A bit complicated, so it can be $$$.
