Honestly, heated saddle is amazing. On paper i would not have paid for it, but it was included in the option packs, now that i have used it i could not do without in winter.
It really keeps your entire body much warmer. I experimented with turnign it off after riding for a bit in the cold, and...
I would not touch that with anythign unless you plan on dying it a darker colour.
It's such a light colour, you are going to end up with smudges everywhere.
I think your only hope is to acetone it fully to remove everything and then dying it dark brown or black, or a colour that will hide the...
It depends what you mean by "without ruining the leather".
Most products that will remove the paint will remove the topcoat from the leather, but that won't necessarily ruin it.
@ton312 used Acetone to remove the top coats of jackets and they looked great afterwards.
This is only my second winter on the bike, but from what i have gathered last year it's all about having the right gear.
I use thick leather jackets up to december, but when it gets close to freezing or freezing i switch to a goretex riding suite, with a lot of wool layered and a down puffer...
Yep, that's the top coat rubbing off and the brown underside showing through.
If you look at the pics i posted above, you can see on the left jacket that the top coat can be very thin and almost see through. Yours looks thicker like the jacket on the right, but both will wear down to the same...
Horween inconcistency is crazy.
These two jackets are made from hides from the same batch:
The right one is smooth and shiney, deep black, the left one is crispy and rough, more brown than black, with a super thin crispy topcoat.
Since taking this pic i have oiled the left one and it has...
I'm at a year of ownership of this beast and a year of barely using my car.
The switch to using my bike for 95% of my travels has been amazing, no regrets whatsoever.
Rain or shine, hot or cold, i use my bike, i only use the car when something doesn't fit the boxes.
I am actually looking forward...
Man, you are braver than me...
I have seen enough pictures of dry rotted/cracking CXL jackets to scare me from heat.
To me this is the last leather you want to put next to a radiator or in a tumbler.
I really hope your jackets age well and don't start cracking...
To me the best way to break in CXL is to wear it when it is warm.
Most leathers i use water to break in, but IMO CXL has such a high wax content that it doesn't really react to water.
On the other hand it reacts to heat a lot, becoming much softer as the waxes get softer and more mobile as the...
I agree with you that it depends on body shape too, but IMO Aeros definitely are more likely to hang from the neck than any other jackets.
I have rarely seen that happen with a Vanson, or a Thedi, or a Lost Worlds.
To me these lines are seen on more Aeros than any other maker:
I dunno man, i have been here since 2013, we have had this conversation multiple times already (literally the two of us!), you always say that Aero's are fine, i have always felt they hung from the neck, some people agree with me, some don't, not sure we need to go through this one more time...
IMO you can't do anything to make the neck better, it's just how Aero designs their jackets, they wear like heavy leather necklaces.
I own 3 Aeros, they all do it, that's the reason i don't really wear them much.
It's not CXL's fault, i have CXL jackets made by other makers (Vanson and Johnson)...
Both my LL have locking main zippers, i don't even think Lewis offers a non locking zipper.
There is definitely something wrong with your zipper, it is not too smooth, it is defective.
All the original leathertogs i have seen had either the same buckle that FW used or an even worst wire buckle.
It's just what Leathertogs used to use back then...
Complaining about a reproduction being too accurate is a bit weird, maybe in the future learn a bit about your heroes before you...
Thing is pecard is just going to make the entire jacket change colour and go darker.
IMO there is nothing you can do, a leather like that is always going to darken when it gets oily, it's the nature of the beast.
I know this goes against the TFL grain, but i personally have never understood the whole "CXL is too heavy and thick" thing that keeps coming up.
Yes it feels like cardboard when new, but wear it daily for a couple weeks and it will be as soft as any other leather if not softer.
To me it's the...
