Thing is, i don't know what the "classic" is in this case...
To me this just looks like someone who knew nothing about leather jackets mixed together a bunch of randome leather jacket features and then just slapped a Harley Davidson label on it and gave it a vague connection to a "cool hairy guy...
Personally i stand behind what i said in the thread you linked to.
Schott are not as well made as aero, the stitching is far less precise.
That is even more true now as Aero has considerably improved their stitching recently.
But I agree with Monitor that Schott patterns are better as far as...
Hard to say much from these pics, looks like you might be able to size down on a test/suburban, but i think a size down on a LT/A would end up being very tight.
If you want to keep it versatile i would probably go 42. You might get a better fit in a 40Long, but that would be a much more...
The Leathertogs A is definitely tighter than the Suburban or the Test at equivalent tag size.
Not in a need to size up difference, but noticeably tighter.
My brother is a size 40 in LW, i can put his jackets on but they are too tight to be comfortable, as you say they are T shirt only jackets...
Here is my Suburban, it's a 42L stock width at the hem.
It's a bit large at the bottom hem but IMO it get aways with it and doesn't look too bad.
It alows the jacket a lot of versatility, i can wear it with super thick jumpers or a T shirt.
It's a bit of a dad jacket but it's very versatile and...
Once it's fully broken in i'll do a full review with better pics, i'll take some closed and without collar then.
I don't think it can be butonned up with the mutton collar on.
The original has a serious front drop too:
I assume an original would have been proportionally shorter back then and the drop would have been less of a problem.
On this one we went with my usual 25" back and that gives a slightly too long front.
On the other hand, had we gone for a 24" back...
Thanks.
Nope, i insisted he used the Corozo buttons i had sourced for it on the remake.
The mother of pearl where a "free upgrade" i had not asked for and i wasn't a big fan of it.
I have to say that looking at both the LW and the Fields i think the silhouette of the LW is closer to the original.
I have been wearing this new Peter's all week on the bike.
I find the front drop a bit long, it creates a bit of pouching in the front when sitting down and a bit of hourglassing in the front.
Saying that i think that once it is fully broken in it will be very comfortable, the shoulders and back...
+1 For the full refund, the fact that the QC was happy to ship this leads me to believe they don't really care about their products, i would ask for a full refund and leave it at that.
That second pic is scary to me, that slit looks deep and IMO would cause problems if you wear these boots hard. I would send that back in a hearbeat...
I'm not sure you can mix modern and vintage teeth, I think this might be your best option:

@photo2u might know more about changing a single side, he likes zippers...
I really like that they are now finishing the thin end of the pockets with a double stich that is symmetrical, it looks much better than what they used to do when i ordered mine a few years ago.
