May I also weigh in to say that is a striking hat by a skilled hand. I know, not helpful, but... well thank you for sharing it with us and hope you find a lucky buyer soon.
Wow, missed this the first time. Seems like a great fit- better than some custom jackets I've seen/have.
If you can wear a hoodie under it, it's not too tight!
Enjoy! Great jacket.
Just to be clear, I assume the boot had nothing to do with you breaking your foot?
I have two pairs of Whites and ... many pairs of Wescos, including harness and Morrison.
Both pairs of White's squeak and one has stitching coming loose. They're good boots, but
I much prefer my Wescos. Readers...
For those of you who somehow have not come across Moroccan dromedary leather, here's what it looks like after around 15 years (pretty much what it looked like on day one).
I have a double sole Wesco boot (not engineer- Jobmaster). I don't know that it took twice as long to break in (it's also Domain Black Tie, if that matters), but it is forever a massive platform of a sole. In a good way. It'll never flex like my other Wescos, but it sure is stable and...
I will say I have a side bag tanned and made in Marrakesh from dromedary leather. I bought it some 15 years ago and it still smells like the bird poop and noxious chemicals used in those tanning vats. So that's another reason to proceed with caution. Mind you, it looks great and I still use it...
Yawn. As we can see at Horween, tanning can be done to our standards. It's not tanning per se, but environmental regulations and labor laws (therefore, economics) that makes the difference. If you're buying leather tanned in the USA (as many of us are) the story is quite different.
I don't buy...
I've often thought of either replacing the laces with something like a spring or another hardware fitting. I am also contemplating tying the laces with a metal or stone (think donut-shaped turquoise) so there is a sort of buckle. Anyone try anything like this?
Didn't think you were prying. Just wondered what it is I should be looking for. A good watch shop doesn't necessarily know all the details about a less well-known brand. I don't know how he dated it to 1940, though it seems about right, looking at contemporary watches. Glad to learn about it and...
Nope. Didn't think to ask. You can see it's 15 jewel and made in Switzerland. I don't think he knew that the mark meant Record Watch Co. But I don't know.
What's the difference here? Are you curious about anything in particular?
That appears to be it. Returned to the watch shop today and here's the inside (hard to see the logo under the movement) and the shop owner's rendition (he had a loop).
For some definition of narrow. I have 3E feet. The last is the same for engineers. There’s a choice of toe style. Check the web site. My ideal is that flat front toe. But these were a screamin deal.
