Don't hang it in the closet in among other clothes, they need to breath. Mine started to mildew when stored that way. Cleaned it up, and now it hangs from the rafters with plenty of airflow, no problem.

I wear a pair of brown Frye harness boots all the time, I can't say if they're really in style or not, I don't see many people other than motorcyclists wearing them. I tried a pair of the Chippewas on a couple years ago. They're very stiff. I decided against them when the sales girl said...
Hey South,
Don't worry for a second about a good quality cow hide having any problems with weather. I've got a cow hide motorcycle jacket that's almost 30 years old, and it's been rained on, covered in bugs and road grime, and even slid down the road at 70 mph. There is no sign of drying out...
Hi SC,
I have the regular HB in antique brown FQHH. It is a beautiful leather but IT IS very heavy and stiff. These things do literally stand up by themselves, especially when new. This hide gains character very quickly with all sorts of grain and contrasting shades of color coming out. I...
It looks fine to me. I have a FAI as well and the collar shape never bothered me in the least. I also have Aero, GW, US A, and Cockpit to compare it to. It may, as you said, be an illusion created by the collar stand, many people refer to Roughwear collars as "clown collars" so it's a matter of...
Hey All,
I washed the liner from an Akubra in Woolite, it came out nice and clean, and didn't affect the crest at all. After it dried I carefully ironed it, without melting the plastic liner, and it looks great. The only problem I have is the liner now has no stiffness at all and if the hat...
Hey Miss J,
I agree with Cobden, Alexandria itself is a bit of a rat hole, with not much to see. There is the old fortress down at the harbor but it's not like a fort over here, there are only a couple of small display case, not much actual historical info (at least there wasn't 10 years...
Edward,
I have both G&B and Wested, and both in lamb. Ordered the Wested new and picked the authentic brown lamb since it was supposed to be the closest to the movie jacket they had and Wested is touted as the original Raiders maker. I was never particularly impressed with it, the leather is...
Hey Ig,
Hope you had fun in TO over the last week. Coincidentally, I was down towards Niagara on Saturday and stopped by Horse World in St. Catherines, you may have noticed it on the South Service road as you were driving by. Picked up a real nice Akubra "Tracker" in tawny fawn. This isn't a...
Hey G,
I go in if I there too. I pretty much know I'm not going to find anything, but there's always hope.
By the way, Cambridge is west of Guelph not east, got my directions mixed up.
Brian
I've been to the hat shop in Niagara-On-The-Lake. Generic shop, way over priced. You'll do much better at Biltmore and The Hatter. Biltmore is not open on Saturday so don't make a special trip to Guelph on the weekend, you'll be disappointed. Kelehers Saddlery is just a few more miles east of...
Sorry Johnny,
I have to disagree 100% with your assessment of the FAI A-2. The leather on mine is an excellent mid-weight hide in a great medium brown. The collar is not over sized at all, and is comparable my current Aero real deal. This is one of my favorite A-2's, it some how seems more...
Why don't you consider the regular half-belt instead of the long. It could easily be made slightly longer, has uncovered slash pockets, and is a zipper front design. I had Aero make mine with a bi-swing back similar to the LHB, and that detail alone really makes the back of the jacket, IMHO...
Hey All,
The Biltmore factory and outlet is located at 139 Morris St., in Guelph, ON. Phone number is 519-822-0505. There's always a good selection of hats there, in all sizes. You can usually find wools starting around $50.00 - $60.00, on up to beavers for several hundred. Size and styles...
I got a authentic brown lamb Wested a few years back figuring it was the original, and supposedly the exact color of the Raiders jacket. By the time I paid the exchange rate, the shipping, and the duty it certainly didn't come out any cheaper than a G&B, and I've never been so disappointed with...
