    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Re. the various Woolly Pully sweaters: Ditto, or Doubleplus Ditto in Orwellian speech. Re. Jarhead: the high collar on the original Marine uniform, which would make the poor chap look as if his head was sticking out of a jar. This also earned them the rather erotically charged nickname...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

The ‘You’re a Jarhead if …’ was humorous and written by an ex-Marine. I’m glad to see that you spell Woolly Pully the proper way, that is to say the British way as we invented the WP and you sensibly copied it. … The question that springs to mind, inevitably, is whether your Father ever wore...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I once read a series of definitions of Jarhead: ‘you are a Jarhead if …’ One of them was: ‘You are a Jarhead if you wear your Wooly (sic) Pully with Levis’. Interesting, because I do that sometimes and as a British chap have never served in the USMC. Typical American humour - sorry, humor.

Thank you Sir. I’ll reply in more detail later. Marine Commando is of course a British term, not US.

So do I. Acrylic is ugly, common and unmanly. If that’s politically incorrect, I’m delighted. F**k synthetics.

Here Navy Blue means Navy Blue, but there is a Black version as well. I have both of course.

It looks very nice. Tempting in fact -although I already have an embarrassingly large number of the conventional WPs

It’s great. I love the cold. And I’m wearing a Navy WP.

I hope so. It has been a very strange year; I am naturally optimistic and so I look forward to better things in 2022. I shall be delighted and relieved to leave 2021 behind.

That’s very nice if it’s dry, crisp cold and such weather is ideal for a bonfire. I am wearing - surprise, surprise - a WP as it’s sweater weather here as well.

Thank you for that Link. I see that they have the ‘frock jumper’ in Navy as well and also a repro WWII British Army Pullover. Just my sort of place.

Re: Outdoor Knitwear. I have their -15% offer and am thinking of replacing one of my RAF WPs, which is more worn out than Peacoat’s Navy sweater. I’m thinking of getting one size larger than usual as I have noticed that the newer WPs are smaller and tighter than before. I haven’t put on weight -...

It really does depend on whether you have long arms! In my avatar for this Forum you will see a photo of my wrist and part of my hand! I’m wearing my Navy Woolly Pully with the cuffs turned back - that should give you some idea.

Well yes, the Outdoor Knitwear Woolly Pully, which is the real thing. Go to www.outdoorknitwear.com No, they’re not paying me a commission: I’m just a longterm customer!

Yes, I can confirm that it does run a bit longer in the torso than the traditional crew neck and so you should certainly keep it.

Very nice photos Steve. Mine has arrived as well and I shall put some snapshots up soon. But why have you covered your face, especially with a Union Jack mask? You look like a UVF or UDA loyalist gunman in Northern Ireland: ‘No Surrender’!
