It's here! Chocolate OTR, came open crown 2 5/8" brim. Nice hat, think its going to get a lot of head time. Only drawback is it's hotter than hades here for probably another month. Ribbon is brown and it has a little sheen to it, especially in photos.
Quick bash but brim still up. Brim...
Disturbingly nice cheap paper straw hat.
Cloth sweat. Pineapple and Star brand. Its supposed to be coated so it can handle a little getting wet and supposed to be packable.
Thanks Art! Hopefully we will get to see posts of the hats you create the rest of this year. I have really enjoyed scrolling through the pictures and posts of your wonderful hats.
Akubra Campdraft deluxe and Adam Texas. Silverbellies.
Felt color is the same, dimensions are almost exactly the same. Slight color difference in ribbons. Felt is a little thinner on the Adam. If they were bashed just alike they would pretty much be twins.
Lost control and placed an order for one of Art's "off the shelf" chocolate hats. Figured I better have at least one VS before its too late. I do have a resistol stagecoach there for a rennovation to be "fedoraized" but my hat acquisition syndrome kicked in.
Went by Garland. Always interesting to see the variations of hats that wind up there. Many of the hats have flaws but most are very minor. Or some are oddball samples or experiments. Got lucky and picked up a couple of strats, Caribou and the newer version of Sage with tone on tone ribbons...
Picked up a couple in Garland.
Caribou which had a wide bright blue ribbon but they changed it out for me to a thin 2 ply light grey. Plain black sweat.
And a dark sage with tone on tone ribbons. Almost a forest or dark moss green. Not a great pic of this one.
Photo of Sage showing liner...
First just do it dry with your hands. Push it out gently into an open dome shape. Then shape it the way you would like it. It may show old memory or it may reshape pretty well. There are videos on you tube from JJ Hat Center and others. Search for how to bash, how to shape, or crease a felt...
