That reminds me of the Poles in the beginning of the war. People joke how their cavalry charged tanks (actually, armored cars or recon vehicles), thinking they were stupid to do so.
Just the opposite. They knew what they were doing, yet did it anyway. Charging armored vehicles of any sort...
Going back to the whole "age" thing reminds me of two things:
1. The movie "Summer School". 16 year old surfer dude is busted by a judge for underage drinking and he wants to see the ID he used. Judge says, "You were a black Marine in 1968?"
Surfer dude: "War changes a man in many ways."...
Man in uniform? You know what really draws women in?
Flight suits. I flew for 20 years. Chicks dig the smell of nomex.
Seriously, my wife always said I looked great in my flight suit and my dress uniform (tho my blues were always uncomfortable to me).
As usual, I'm snake-bit when it comes to Buzz Rickson. As soon as I buy one, I have some sort of financial emergency and I have to pass it on.
I have for sale a size 46 L2A. This is blue with the transitional green lining. Jacket is in great condition, shoulder decal sharp, knits have a...
That's sounds pretty typical. People want the very best, but don't want to have to pay for it. Or better yet, when you put something up for sale, they PM you, "Hey, what's the lowest amount you'll take for this?"
Losers. :eusa_doh:
I just read that in the movie, "Valkyrie" they tried German accents but figure it would detract from the movie so they didn't use them.
And when it comes to crappy accents, how can anyone forget Dick Van Dyke's English accent in "Mary Poppins"?
It wasn't an actual quote, but it's what a lot of people heard.
The movie is "Legion", with Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid. Here's the wikipedia run down of the movie:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legion_(2010_film)
When Quaid's character says, "I don't believe in God", Bettany replies...
I have a Gibson and Barnes Civil A2 jacket I'd like to move. Dark brown cowhide. Mr Chapman sold me some berry knits to replace the factory installed knits.
This is a size 44. I can get some accurate measurements if you're interested. Please remember that the G&B jackets run a bit big...
From what I've heard, some guys, when the A-2 was reintroduced, had them altered in Turkey. A lot of the mods caught on, especially the extra panels. It makes it so the sleeve doesn't ride down your arm when you reach for things.
We wore them flying, just not combat.
I think the original reissue A2s didn't have the side panel. Guys had them put in on their own dime. I think the AF actually listen to suggestions made from aircrew and had that "football gusset" put on later models. I think mine has that.
Ain't it, tho? ;)
Well, I hadn't thought of the whole, "read them in email" angle to the PM deal.
I was just concerned if something was broken or not. Thanks!
