Redtails WW2 Movie showcases repro Flight Jackets

The write-up on Eastman's website is a little bit misleading. They weren't the only supplier of jackets for the movie; they were a supplier. Good Wear also supplied some jackets for the film. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie. Noel

    Some great Fall/Winter 2011 Buzz Rickson's jackets

John - To see the entire 2011 Fall/Winter catalog, try this link (it worked for me): http://ot-e.co.jp/catalog/2011_fw/bz11/index.html For some reason, Buzz Rickson's official website still has the 2010 data. Noel

Buzz Rickson's B-2...a pictorial review of an endangered species!

Jan is absolutely right. These Buzz Rickson's B-2 jackets are really fantastic. I'm almost ready to pull mine out of the closet for the third year now that the weather turned cooler. They are comfortable right out of the box and they just keep looking better year after year. The nice thing...

    Aviator Halfbelt Version 2

Another beautiful creation, Mark. The weight of the leather looks just right for this style. The front pocket looks really cool too! Noel

    Pecards - which one?

In my experience, their "leather dressing" (paste) works best on aniline finished leather. I've tryed the leather dressing on spray-finished leather and it tends to leave the surface a little sticky even after the final buffing. If your goatskin is spray-finished, I'd recommend the cream. I...

    Treating new veg-tanned leather

I wouldn't worry about it too much but if you want to make the surface more water resistant, I would apply a very light coat of Pecard leather dressing (very, very light). Let it sit for a day or so and then use a clean cotton rag to wipe off any excess that's left. It won't completely...

Question about Buzz Rickson 30s/40s Leather Flying Jacket

I agree with PADDY. Mark (fishmeok) is very passionate about jackets and does great work. He made an A-1 for me recently and I was blown away by the quality. He is a pleasure to talk to as well. Noel

Survey: Your Favorite A-2 Jacket (Original or Repro, Expensive or Cheap as Hell!)

I have to say that this "time worn" treatment looks nothing like my Eastman '33 Werber "4-year actual worn." The way the leather on these jackets is finished it doesn't take very long to make one look lived-in; the "time worn" treatment seems unnecessary on these type of jackets. In the...

    Aero at the Banbury Run

Great looking leather to go with a stunning motorcycle. It looks like you had a a fantastic time, James. Thanks for sharing. Noel

Do you wear a fedora with your leather jacket?

Aside from the Indiana Jones comments, I've always felt (no pun intended) that a hat is a bit too formal to go with a "casual" leather jacket. For these reasons, I typically go hatless with a leather jacket or with an 8-panel tweed cap or B-1 flight cap. Noel

    Insurrection's PLU-3!!!

Great looking jacket but an even better looking motorcycle! Is that a Thruxton or a modified Bonneville? You have good taste in leather and bikes. Enjoy riding in your new jacket. Regards, Noel

Waxed Cotton Classic Motorcycling over Trousers

Very nice, James. That's a beautiful Triumph too. Best of luck in the Banbury Run. Noel

Aviation Leathercraft custom-made Irvin motorcycle jacket

That jacket looks very toasty. I like my "standard" Irvin jacket for cold weather riding but your modifications make the jacket even better suited for motorcycling. Very nice; ride safe out there! Noel

    LW Bedford or Pea Coat?

I've got two Lost Worlds jackets and yes the horsehide is stiff right out of the box but it does loosen up over time especially when the finish starts degrading to the point where water can penetrate the leather. Their quality is first rate also. Noel

Sleeves too short on new Lost Worlds Ryder jacket?

I think the sleeve length is right on. In fact, I think the whole jacket looks great on you. I would wear it around for a while before sending it out for sleeve alterations. It looks like you have a keeper to me. Noel

Remove heavy collar ring on horsehide A2

Just a thought but maybe the black collar ring is actually where the top spray finish has worn through to the super dark brown leather underneath from rubbing. I think those early Eastman jackets used spray finished leather instead of the aniline leather they use today. If this is the case...

    B-2 Jacket Suggestions

I second John Lever's assessment. I have the both the Buzz Rickson's and the Lost Worlds B-2. Although I like and wear both I would recommend the Buzz version. It is truer to the original design and is more comfortable to wear. I bought mine from History Preservation Associates in 2008 and...

    "The Grizzly"

Nice purchase, Baron. It looks pretty rough but appears to be all there. Is that a Laskinlamb/Lakeland tag I see in the lining? Very nice! Noel

    Flying boots

Fletch: I've got the WPG boots with the stock leather sole and rubber heel and strangely enough the traction is pretty good in the snow. We have had a lot of ice in my neck of the woods so occassionally I have strapped some Yak-Trax on my boots. That basically makes them unstoppable. They...
