The Fedora Lounge is not meant to be the internet's clearinghouse for all things hat related. The original purpose of this website was to document and celebrate vintage hats. We are especially not a hatter's FAQ.
Aside from straying from the aesthetic that is popular here, there's significant...
This hat? I the Fed IV is probably not the best match. This one is slightly smaller all around (brim width: certainly, crown height: likely) and more tapered on the sides. Also, 2" ribbon.
Fantastic Borso! Don't know if you have checked out the Show Us Your Vintage Hat Store thread or not, but I posted a hat from the Halle Bros store with a short note on its history.
Playboy mid grey, sage ribbon, unlined.
Sold out of Kooi Knapper Men's Wear in Kalamazoo, MI.
The store was a part of the Kalamazoo mall, at the time of its opening in 1959, it was the first outdoor pedestrian mall in the U.S., although the store itself seems to have been open since 1947.
This one is maybe a bit of a cheat, because Halle Bros. had more than one location and the hat doesn't have a specific address. But both the original Halle building and the Halle Shaker Square building are on the National Register of historic places. Actress Halle Berry (born Maria Halle Berry)...
Great idea for a thread!

H. Kauffman was a longstanding saddlery in NYC, originally opening in 1875. The Times has a 1975 article with some more background on the shop as it celebrated its centennial.
It's the hat version of a vestigial organ. Early hats had a ribbon which you could use to cinch the sweatband to make seizing adjustments.
It sometimes appears in a purely decorative form in later hats like my 100:
I believe there are one or two functional examples floating around the lounge...
I certainly don't have the cash, but for those who do, $1250 is darn good price in a world with $1000 Fouquet hats and $1195 Optimo heirloom felts. This is one of the most stunning vintage examples I've seen.
Thanks for the kind comments and likes!
Jeff: luckily for the hat, the worst of rain happened during the driving part and it only was out with the dogs.
Rain is coming at some point today, so I've got my modern Stetson Boss Raw Edge. Pardon my 'why didn't it take a picture - oh, the timer is on' expression in the first pic.

Hornskov is advertising a black cherry that looks like the original Winchester dye...don't know where they source from, but since they are in Europe, I suspect FEPSA.
Shane MacGowan of The Pogues recently married his longtime companion Victoria Mary Clarke. Johnny Depp was in the wedding party and wore a nice, clean hat for once!
If, like me, you want an overpriced (but handmade with an artistic aesthetic) fashion forward hat, Worth and Worth is 15% off the entire collection, up to 25% off.
JJ Hat Center is 20% off everything
Hatwrks Nashville is 10% off online orders with cybermonday code
The majority of us here have a preference for fur felt hats. Not just because of our vintage focus and orientation, but also because it's just a superior material over wool felt
That having been said, unless you're looking at the used market, $45 isn't going to get you there. The cheapest off...
Thanks for being my favorite enablers :D:cool:
I did end up going for the black "Virgil" hat. I've almost bought this hat twice before...last year on black friday and this past April when I was looking for a NOLA straw hat (for a trip that actually ended up overcast and cool) The price is...
I don't really need a Worth and Worth hand dyed panama, do I?
I just can't see to pull the trigger on one of these hats, which in and of itself may be a sign. I know these won't be everyone's cup of tea here, as they are decidedly "fashion" hats, but I really like a lot of their hats...
