    The Bowler or Derby Hat

I'd say your guess on age is spot on, you should definitely send it to a hatter if you intend on any doing any kind or replacement or restitching of the original sweat or a deep clean. Stiff felts are no joke to try and get a needle and thread through. If the reed is still attached to the hat...

    Pre 1940s dress hats

The tags are both underneath the liner which is stitched in pretty tightly still. Heres the best shots I can do without breaking a stitch. The Portis was indeed from the same seller so i'm guessing its more than likely early to late 20's based on the age of the Stetson. I think its just...

    The Bowler or Derby Hat

Equestrian bowlers tend to fall on the lower crown / shorter brim side. Heres one example an older Stetson with a cork liner with pretty modest brim and crown measurements. The crown measures around 4 inches and the brim measures at around an inch and a half or so in the front and back. Your...

    Long Hair Brushed Finish

The older examples that Mayser was alluding to are the pinnacle of long hair finishes, but all require methods and processes that unfortunately have been all but lost to time. Optimo is able to just outright purchase melusine finishes from FEPSA, Bob at Black Sheep is actually producing his...
