Some more details showing the snaps for the detachable fur collar, as well as the collar constructions. Then down below that, even though built in the 50's or early 60's this jacket still stands on it's own! :)
Another Catch & Release, this one simply too small for me. I took a chance on a minimal detail ebay find, but it was still nice to have this one in hand. I can see why these straight-zips are quite sought after. The (possibly Horsehide) leather on this jacket has fantastic graining and...
Catch & Release here is a well broken in, teacore-effect Competition Weight Vanson "Highwayman" or Model E. This jacket has the fixed quilted lining, Talon main zipper (appears original), full detached belt, snap-on mouton collar, lace up sides, action back, and hardened kidney belt area in...
It's the sleeve length this kicks me around about it.
It LOOKS longer than 23" sleeves but photos can be deceiving.
The Leather looks amazing, and it's really in great shape.
I know all of us have preferences, but I for one thing your Raider you purchased looks great, and I would wear it as-is without a second thought. I'd keep it...
This Langlitz is quite similar, even to the Goatskin it's made of, as the Columbia with crossack collar I also have on ebay. It also appears to have the short torso (mine is ~ 21" straight down from the bottom of the collar to the hem.) However this one has shorter sleeves.
Yes...I agree with all you stated here. No wife (yet) in my life, but if she ever does appear, I hope she is at least understanding with the leather jacket "thing" many of us work with in life. :)
This really has to be one of the best photos ever posted to FL. The jacket evolution is of course amazing, and it's interesting to see (as I have noted on most of my jackets as well) that one sleeve develops more varied creasing than the other. However in this case, the hat, the expression...
Saturday this jacket arrived to my door. It's an early E as per the tag, leather and the zippers (Talon main zipper). This is a size "46" and as such, it's a bit large. A layering piece. I picked it up to be a good daily driver through the spring & fall, it's plenty warm for most of the...
This was a really nice one Tony! Do you still have it around? I have never seen an "E" with the nickel hardware, as well as teacore leather such as your has here.
Too small for me, but quite the sharp looking model E and I think I really like it without the epaulettes.
GLWS and hope the new owner is ready to break that beast in.
Dude - seems nothing is really wrong. Just like we change colors on the walls in our houses, or trade in the car or motorcycle we use daily on a periodic basis, sometimes we just need change for the sake of change. I know there is a lot of negative press about this, I find myself thankful...
Yes indeed it was! I owned this one twice. If whoever picked it up doesn't jive with it, let me know. I may try again (although I know the sleeves are too short for me.). Dena at Great Leather installed the #10 zipper.
