Thankyou Will - I will sure indeed take this into consideration! This jacket is so great I want to keep it around, but it's honestly just too small for me, no need to keep prevaricating about the bush as Wallace & Gromit would say! :)
So I'll ask about a smell in a newly acquired "Steerhide" CXL Aero Highwayman. This is the Super-Heavy (10-lb) jacket that I posted photos of in the WJAYW thread earlier today. It's a beauty, but there is a catch - it has a very musty (almost moldy) odor to it. I have never had to deal with...
Here's one I am actually starting to get to know. Zip-sleeve Cordovan Highwayman in super-heavy Steerhide! I was surprised when I saw this on ebay and took a chance on it, there could be a shade more torso length, but overall as I breaks in I think it will be fine. Shipping weight on this...
Ok so I have a quandary here. This straight-zip Cal is simply too short, and ever so much too tight. I can get it on and zipped as shown below, and I absolutely love the Horse it's made of (Thick, grainy, still smells quite new) although it is at least 50-60 years old. But it's just not a...
Heavy, thick steerhide US-Made Cafe Racer leather jacket in excellent shape!
Has many unusual features for a Cafe Racer style jacket:
- Adjustable side laces
- Western "V" back
- Leather lined handwarmer pockets
- Double leather at elbows
This jacket is made in USA - well-kept, from a pet and...
^^Fantastic! Glad to see more choices, and this new leather looks great.
I am deeply a CXL fan, but I do concede that many times I reach for a (slightly) lighter hide for real-life circumstances. :)
100% Agree! Its about a lot more than jackets & boots for me, this is simply a fantastic community.
Thanks to the Moderators & all the great folks on here.... :)
Here is another option - Fidelity, may be a little longer than the ones you posted about, but worth a shot.

You're wise to stay 40/42 if you want around 22" pit to pit. My size "46" has nearly 25" pit to pit, one of the features of the Indian Ranger is they are not slim-fit. They are not as exaggerated as a traditional Aero Highwayman, but they "look" slim-fit till you try them on.
Mine was...
Wow, this one might be 24.25" in a stretch.
That's the only dimension keeping it from being comically too large on me.
Have you asked Carrie At Thurston's if she could order one in a custom size? They carry Vanson and can do a fit-jacket with that too I believe.
An update - I was checking this jacket out again this morning and *broke the belt buckle.* It's odd as that was the one thing that didn't match. It's just pot metal, and was oddly silver, compared to everything else being brass.
So when I can get over to Des Monies, I will have the Fontenelle...
Yeah, I thought about you with the related thread on the "42" E. I think I'm in the same boat as you, the 46 is genuinely too large, a 44 would be spot-on.
