Treeman,
I thought at one point I did post pics. I'll have to see if I have any on the laptop I have with me. I am currently traveling for work, and the jacket is about 6000 miles away. LOL. I picked up a brown Schott 141 in the fall in a size 38 and I have been wearing it pretty much...
I'm not sure why that is. If one of the admins knows what would cause it please let me know. I don't think I have posted photos here in a long time, definitely since the format was upgraded several months back. There may be a setting I need to change.
I finally picked up my first pair of Nick's earlier this week. There was a slight delay due to the leather I requested, but it was well worth the wait!!! These are the thickest, stiffest pair of work boots I have ever owned!!!! I like the look of the contrasting tongue. I didn't request it...
I agree with both Harry and Bamaboots. A little water won't hurt quality leather that has been conditioned. Repeated soakings where the leather is completely soaked through are not good because it removes the oils, as Harry stated. It is difficult to recondition the leather to the point where...
I've used Lexol on occasion, and it's pretty good for conditioning leather. For normal use, I just use Obenaufs LP.
I don't like SnoSeal because it seems kind of like a wax to me (well, it IS partially beeswax, or used to be). It seems to me that wax doesn't allow the leather to breathe like...
I have found that with Sanforized denim the majority of the shrinkage will occur with the first wash, no matter the temperature. After that you can wash it in boiling water and throw it in the dryer and you will get very little additional shrinkage. I know this because I have "experimented". ;)
I'm not sure how durable thin dress wool pants are (I have never worn a pair out), but I only own one pair of Civil War wool uniform pants and after beating the crap out of them for five years of reenacting, they were barely getting broken in. :D I would expect it takes a long time to wear out...
Levi's are massively vanity sized, plus if you've been wearing the jeans they have probably stretched a bit. Let's put it this way, I can easily fit in a 29" waist pair of Levi's. I am in no way shape or form, a true 29" waist!!!!! LOL In Gustin I take a 31 or 32, and they are snug at first...
casechopper,
Where the heck do you even find such a thing??? I'm still not sure if I love them or hate them. They are neat-looking. The white might be what's giving me fits. In black they would certainly be bad-ass!!! LOL
SRX,
Great combo!!!
I have a black jacket in that style, and I do like it. I like all black leather jackets. But for some occasions the black leather and all the chrome is just too much. Your jacket is just enough to downplay the extreme contrast of the normal black/chrome version to make...
All Gustin jeans state RAW on the tag. :)
I think there have only been three "unsanforized" offerings, the American Unsanforized, the Loomstate, and the Black Loomstate.
So here has been my experience, for what it's worth. I washed almost every pair of Gustins as soon as I got them in a...
I'll chime in as well. Those elephant boots are beauties!!!
How durable is the leather? Would it work as an actual work boot leather, or is it not as durable as one would think?
