Shocking Stories About Your Golden Era Relatives

My dad grew up in the Depression and World War 2. They were so poor, "they didn't have a pot to **** in or a window to throw it out of." Seriously, they were poor. They ate, but most days, what was on the table was what food they had in the house and no more. I have my grandmothers bank...

Shocking Stories About Your Golden Era Relatives

Same with my Grandfather. He was a gentleman when I always knew him, but when he was around 16-17 years old, he was running booze out of Canada for his uncle with a friend. Seems like he was a wild one. I think his buddy was the class clown who later became a priest. His second wife (my...

    MA-1 Flight jacket

Leather underwear is good to go, but I heard it chafes a bit. :D

    MA-1 Flight jacket

Cotton is ok in a fire (well, as "OK" can be while you're burning). Cotton will char instead of melt like nylon will. When I was flying, we had to have cotton underwear. Nothing else was approved for flight. Women were in the same boat, too. Leather was good to go, at least for boots. We...

    Fury

Exactly. A bad ass. There was an infantryman in Korea that did pretty much the same thing, too. So, the story of one tank holding off a bunch of enemy troops isn't too far fetched.

How many Germans did Audie Murphy mow down standing on the back of that M-10? Dude was on the back of it firing a .50 for an hour before running out of ammo.

Kurt Vonnegut was in the ASTP program. So was William Wharton, who wrote a great book (which was turned into a great movie) called, "A Midnight Clear".

Skyline MA-1 and ATF B-10 and M43 cap for sale

I've been asked about overseas sales. Well, I'm open to that, but we'll have to work out shipping, etc. And I'll get the A2 pics up tonight, God willing and the creek don't rise.

Skyline MA-1 and ATF B-10 and M43 cap for sale

Just bumping this up and adding an item. Also for sale, a Gibson and Barnes Civil A2 in sealbrown goat. I had the knits replaced with red ones purchased from Mr Chapman. It's a great jacket, just not getting enough wear at this time. It's a size 44. I'm asking $425 shipped CONUS. I'll get...

What Song Would You Like Played At Your Funeral.

I always remember a passage from the book, "A Sense of Honor" by James Webb. It's about the Naval Academy in 1968 and one Midshipman is describing how another one wanted to be buried if KIA. I thought it was so cool I wanted the same thing. In fact, I had them write that up in my Emergency Data...

Yepper. That looks civilian; the G1 had patch pockets.

    Buzz Rickson A-2

I've seen that on some sites, I think, but most sizes are like 38 and whatnot. I haven't been a 38 since I was a junior in high school. I'm a 44 now, so it's a bit difficult to track down BR stuff.

Is the B3 jacket "too much"?

I read either here or VLJ that a guy would wear a B-3 out walking the dog in below zero weather with just a t-shirt on underneath and work up a sweat. Don't know if that speaks for how warm the jackets are, or how out of shape the guy is, tho.

    Buzz Rickson A-2

You know what I'm putting all money down on?? Disposable Handguns. Anyways, I'm not a big fan of this A-2, but to each his or her own. I guess if you like it, get it. I wouldn't bust anyones chops if I saw them wearing it in public. I guess it's because I'm not a big fan of black leather...

Is the B3 jacket "too much"?

I'd love me a B-3, but even in PA, I doubt I'd have that much of a use for it. I'm originally from Upstate NY (north of Albany) and I could see wearing it alot there in the winter.
