I dunno about that, my original mono copy sounds pretty good to me, and better than my stereo copy of AXIS, remember that most people's record players were primitive back then as well, the mid-70's Hi-Fi boom was a long way off.
I'd rather have a Robert Johnson 78 than a CD ......;)
Anybody got a good source of ribbing to repair a couple of old civilian A-2 style jackets, I've googled around but the pics aren't enough guide...people here will now what I'm after....

Which of course raises the question: who were they renting from?
There must have been widespread ownership of homes by one section of the population......
city life
Well it wasn't a nice suburban block..by the 50's the area had been a violent slum full of brothels and opium dens for a hundred years...even when I moved in there were 10 murders within 100 yards of the house in the first year.
It took some serious gentrification before the lawyers...
a roof over
Housing is the killer in this country, I bought a house in Sydney for 75k in 1987, and sold it for 350K 10 years later to the day, yet the deeds showed that it had sold in 1957 for $200!!!!! No way had the rest of society's expenses kept up with that!
Consequently I am a debt-free...
jockettes
Young people over here call them 'jock' jackets, as apparently there is some fashion sub-culture among teenagers to dress like American college kids of the past....they don't seem to have much money to back this up with though as I have a 'Harvard' jacket just like that on my stall...
phooey
It's been solidly proven again and again that the RB was shot down by Australian ground fire, but that movie was utter bollocks, contemptible rubbish of the first order....WHY ARE THERE NO GOOD WW1 AIRWAR MOVIES??????:rage: :rage: :rage:
Anyone out there who actually does the whole job on hats interested in this Akubra size 57?

bit of both
I have always been an aficianado of film noir since I was a small kid watching late night B/W TV with my father. About 10 years ago I did a degree in digital media, and I took film history as a unit purely because I knew as much about it as the lecturer, and could breeze it in..he...
thoughts
I studied this film years ago:
The character of Mike Hammer in this film is somewhat removed from Spillane’s vision. The totally amoral and vicious divorce consultant is not quite the seeker of justice we come to expect in detective noir. His quest (the lonely knight, seeker of...

I guess the person really laughing is...
depends on what's to be done
WITH RESPECT, I've had several leather coats and jackets repaired by my local upholsterer, because
A I know what can and can't be done by his machine
B he's a reasonable guy who charges very little for something that is no doubt a break from routine for him....
couched in the right terms
If you have a reasonable idea of what you want done, try an upholsterer, they have heavy duty sewing machines and can do what you ask.....
