New life for an old Mallory.
I bought this 1960s NOS Mallory straw uniform hat from a seller claiming it was black – it wasn’t (and you’d think I’d know better by now). Turned out to be a grey/green color, but too much of a hassle to return so I went forward with my original conversion plan...
1950s Bandera 5X Western
I finally got to work on the unusual Bandera western I bought last week. I bought the hat for a project, but when it arrived, it was too nice to make many changes. As I mentioned before, this hat is very different than other Bandera hats I’ve owned. The crown is very...
I just received this 1950s (??) Bandera 5X beaver western hat. I have found Bandera hats to be of excellent quality, and certainly on-par with Resistols of the same vintage. Very little info available about the Bandera Hat Co., other than they were located in Fort Worth - they were around in...
I have been doing business with them for several years - great folks, great service, and great products - plus it gives me an excuse to go to Lockhart (the BBQ Capitol of Texas). Texas Hatters has done custom work, repairs, refurbishes, etc. for me - even remaking several tired vintage hats...
I'm thinning out some holsters, belts, grips, etc. if anyone is interested:

In case anyone is interested, I have several eBay postings & auctions right now for holsters, grips, belts, etc. - mostly vintage, but some new stuff too. If you are interested, contact me thru TFL for a "better than ebay" deal...
I just posted some interesting photos in the Outerwear Forum showing A-2 and civilian jackets used by the aviation unit of the Georgia State Defense Corps at the beginning of WW-II. Georgia's aviation unit was later merged with the Civil Air Patrol...
I found these photos on a Civil Air Patrol history page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/CAPHistory/).
The photos were taken in 1941 and early 1942 for a Life Magazine article about the Georgia State Defense Corps (state guard) – Coastal Air Patrol unit. The Coastal Air Patrol was later...
New "Paladin" grips on Kimber Ultra Carry - custom made by local grip maker in San Antonio - smooth ebony wood with the bone knight inset into both wood panels.
Very nice! The Centennials are the classiest revolvers S&W ever made. I have one of the early 640s from when they were reintroduced around 1990 & a recent 642 - both are great guns, but one day I hope have an original Model 40 or 42.
Still available - Price dropped to $75 on eBay - will accept $65 shipped for a Lounger thru TFL. Great heavy-duty knock-around jacket, but I need to make room in the closet!
Ruger New Vaquero Birdheads with Montado hammer and 3-3/4" barrel in a new D.M. Bullard holster. Holster is actually made for the Blackhawk, but works fine with the smaller New Vaquero.
It's a good looking holster - hope my comes out that nice. I've found some holsters for S&W K frames will often take a SAA (usually it has to be an open bottom), but the New Service needs something bigger and will work in S&W N frame holsters. Now if I could just find some friends who would...
I owned a black 1930s Stetson Standard Quality for a couple of years, which I loved but never wore it because it was a little small (7-3/8) and the sweatband threads were coming loose. A few weeks ago, I found its twin in 7-1/2 on a table at a gun show, but it was missing the sweatband. With...
I broke down and ordered a double-loop for my New Service from El Paso Saddlery this weekend. They said I should get it sometime in May (but they did not say May of what year). In the meantime I will "make do" with an early George Lawrence New Service field holster I found on eBay.
