I found this Army Air-corps patch in a house I lived in. It is thick and soft, Is it authentic? I've put it by my old credit card for size (it is a no longer valid bank account). Is it for a shirt, an A2, or a blouse?
I live in Vietnam, and there is a lot of drinking by adults, but very little "underage" drinking. I put that word in quotes because there is NO age limit to purchase alcohol in this country. Never the less, whenever I have been in a group o young adults, the ones in their teens usually don't...
Butte, that is a very smart jacket. I like goatskin, even though it doesn't have the panache of HH, I would recommend it to a person who was getting their first A2, and was going to thrash it around. In some ways, goat is better value for money.
Granted, I still like the look of HH better.
Gancho strikes again, with another excellent fitting, beautifully made jacket. Man, how many of these do you have - one for each day of the week? I have to stop looking at these threads so I don't buy something I can't afford. I almost want to move to a colder climate so I can have an excuse to...
I know this is an old thread, but anyone do any more sketches on an "A2 briefcase"? Seeing as I live in a country where I can get stuff custom-made fairly cheaply, I may be able to get a bag maker to make a design if I can give him decent pictures to work off of.
I'll bet I could get one...
Butte -
Don't take me too seriously, I'm just having a little fun with this whole issue. ;)
You are correct, I don't disagree with anything you said - some producers won't vary certain things about their jackets.
I've almost always been a purist in most things in life. I like to get pure cotton, wool, linen, silk, etc. for my clothes. When I learned Hindi in University, I went out of my way to use Sanskrit based terms instead of English. I was always the one who would watch a war film and annoy everyone...
That is a nice jacket, I know what you mean about armholes that are too large - I am a thin guy that can never get a slim jacket that fits well.
One year - good things are worth waiting for.
Kelorgo,
If you checked out my photobucket link (and I'm assuming you did) you're looking at a US-A in russet HH. I think I would have preferred to get it in that dark seal brown, but I've been told by people that they think the lighter shade is nicer on me. If I were to buy from them again...
If you want a goatskin jacket with no knitting, I would suggest taking a look at the "G8". It is sometimes advertized as a navy flight jacket issued in the interwar period (it wasn't) and it looks fairly unique. There are a few companies who carry it, I may get this one in the next few years...
Yar - I like the lighting you did with those shots. Did you use a flash? The picture shows the grain well.
I've noticed that the Talon "Nickel" zipper is just Nickel coating over a brass zipper. I suppose I got what I paid for though.
Great jacket, I have a HH USAuthentic just like it. I've had mine for almost 2 years, and although its probably not the quality of a GW or ELC, I really enjoy it and I think it was a good buy for the price. I've got some pictures on this link, I can't figure out how to post pictures directly...
Although it is a bit sharp tasting at first, latakia is a very enjoyable flavoring to have in an oriental or English blend. Try getting away from tobaccos with a casing and go with an unflavored tobacco, that way you get to know the true taste of tobacco. Latakia is strong to smell, but the...
I don't know why I haven't taken advantage of the fact that here in Vietnam: 1.tobacco is dirt cheap, 2.this country has good relations with Cuba, 3.There are several cigar cafes within a 5 minute drive of my house?! I need to see what they have, any recommendations for Cubans??
